Why It's Escentual

The most useful thing to know about Intense Instant Crush is that it isn't a louder Instant Crush. It's a different fragrance wearing the same name. Black leather leads from the first spray, the bright sugary sparkle of the 2019 original is dialled well back, and the ginger has been swapped out for salted caramel.

If you found the original too sweet or too metallic, this is the version that fixes it. If the sparkle was the whole appeal, sample before you commit. As an extrait, it also sits closer to the skin than the EDP while lasting considerably longer.

What It Smells Like

Leather first, sweetness second. Indian saffron and black leather open together and set the tone immediately, with Sicilian mandarin and bergamot flickering over the top for the first few minutes before burning off. What's left is a genuine leather fragrance rather than a gourmand with leather in it.

Moroccan rose and amberwood build the heart, and the salted caramel arrives underneath as a smooth, slightly savoury sweetness rather than a dessert note. Mysore sandalwood, Madagascar vanilla, oakmoss and white musk carry the long dry-down, where the oakmoss keeps the vanilla from turning soft.

How To Wear It

This is an Extrait de Parfum, so the oil concentration is higher and the alcohol lower than an EDP. It projects less in the first hour but outlasts almost anything in the range. One or two sprays to pulse points is plenty, and it will still be readable at the end of the day. The leather and oakmoss cling to fabric for extra longevity.
