Billie Eilish Your Turn Review: Androgynous and Alluring

Comments in the office included: ''Wow, I'm surprised how much I love it.'' ''I adore the bottle" "I like its warm, woody smell. I think every gender will love it!".

In true Billie Eilish style, Your Turn is distinctive and unique. It's NOT your average pretty perfume, it's a fresh take on a classic woody perfume that will have you questioning the norm. 

Your Turn completely encapsulates Billie's artistic vision, from concept to the bottle design. Let's discover it together. 

As soon as the Dice outer box landed on my desk. I knew this perfume would be unique. I basically ripped it open to experience the concept first hand. I learnt in training that the dice concept and inspiration came from Billie's home decor, so that sparked my curiosity.

When comparing this design to recent launches, there's nothing like it. I feel like brands keep it safe. For collectors, I can see how the bottle doubles up as a piece of art to display. Tip from me: keep a cloth close, as you can see from my unboxing pictures, it gets covered in fingerprints.

I'm going to say it. If I smelled this blindly, from the first spritz, I would have thought it was a new masculine launch. But as it warmed and settled, it gets complex and evolves to be genderless. 

It smells expensive, and has that understated and minimalist quality that Santal 33 has (even though the bottle is very statement), but it's lighter, fresher and slightly spicier.

It's classed as a woody fresh fragrance, and it is that, but with a twist. First spray, I got classic barbershop quality, reminiscent of shaving foams and talcum powder. But within minutes, I could pick out a subtle, and I mean SLIGHT tropical side of coconut and the warmth of the spices. After 2-3 hours is when you get hit with the real woodiness become present.

Sandalwood, Musk, Amber (upcycled), ISO E Super

The woody and musky base notes tend to linger, providing a lasting warmth for up to 4 hours on my skin.

The sillage on me felt moderate to good –  4 sprays was enough to leave a noticeable trail and get you compliments without being overpowering.

Your Turn’s complex composition makes it suitable for both day and night. It's great for the office, and smells luxe enough to wear for nights out.

The fresh top notes provide a lift for daytime wear, while the warm base notes add a sensual touch for evening.

The fragrance's versatility lends itself to year-round wear, which means it is extra cost-effective. For example, the fresh and airy elements make it appropriate for spring and summer, while the warm and woody notes provide comfort in autumn and winter. 

The overall concept was inspired by memories Billie made, creating her number 1 album "Hit Me Hard and Soft" which was all about embracing both strength and softness, and the notes in the perfume do just that, for example the delicate side of peach, and the toughness of sandalwood. Your Turn is meant to encourage self-expression.

The overall design brings both playfulness and intrigue, and and rumored to be inspired by a warm and sensuous mood.

The Your Turn bottle is a standout, inspired by Billie Eilish's artistic admiration for dice. Apparently mimicking a pair of dice she has displayed in her home. It's crafted as stacked dice with embossed pips and features a sleek silver chrome finish.
