YSL’s latest launch, the Lines Liberated Eye Pencil, is none of those things – or so YSL says. So I had to try it. Not only do they promise bold colour, but they claim to be smudge-proof and waterproof – here’s hoping. Let’s discover the formula…

You’ll love this pencil if you want an eye pencil that requires little effort but offers maximum reward. What’s The Formula Like?
Creamy and pigmented! It’s almost buttery, so it’s ideal if you’re tired of eyeliners that drag or have terrible colour payoff. The formula contains cactus fig oil from YSL’s Beauty Ourika Community Gardens, making the pencil extremely comfortable.

I did a quick swatch at my desk to test the colours. I was wowed by the vibrant colours, even with the lightest touch! Here’s a look at the line-up:

What Are The Finishes Like?
The eyeliner comes in 3 finishes: vibrant matte, satin matte & chrome. At Escentual, we only stock the vibrant matte and satin matte shades.
How Well Does It Last?
The longevity claims are 100% true! I wore this eyeliner all day, and it was nearly perfect for cleansing at the end of the day. I even wore it swimming, and it stayed put! You can see from the video above that I put the formula through its paces when it comes to longevity, and it came out on top every time.
If you have very watery eyes, you may not experience these results. After application, the formula needs a few minutes to lock into place – if it gets wet during this time, you may notice its wear-time decrease.
What’s Special About The Design & Packaging?
Lines Liberated Eye Pencils have a slimline, dual-ended design. The packaging’s colour correlates to the pencil’s shade, which is great if you own a couple. My favourite design feature, however, is the slant-angle brush, which you can use to blend and sculpt.
