Viktor & Rolf Spicebomb Dark Leather Eau de Parfum Review
Dark Leather by Viktor & Rolf is one of the sexiest male fragrance launches I’ve smelt this year. Let’s find out why and, most importantly, if Dark Leather is something you will love, just as much as I love it.

What Does Dark Leather Smell Like?
Dark Leather smells like a boozy, spicy, smooth leather scent. It’s sexy, masculine and enticing.
I think it’s the perfect blend of temperatures and textures with the notes. Warm spices and cool, smooth leather balance beautifully to create something smooth and sensual with an ever-so-slightly rugged edge.
Sometimes, leather fragrances can feel very rigid, cold, and hard, but soft, powdery incense mixed with the sweetness of cinnamon creates a sexy signature that flows effortlessly from top to the base.
What Does Dark Leather Smell Similar To?
- BVLGARI Man In Black Eau de Parfum has a similar spiciness with a leather twist.
- Parfums de Marly Layton’s woody spiciness smells similar to Dark Leather.
- Mugler Pure Havane is a wildcard here, but the booziness is similar to me. I love Pure Havane, and I love this.
How Does Dark Leather To The Original Spicebomb?
Both Dark Leather and the original have tobacco and leathery DNA. However, The original Spicebomb EDT smells fresher than Dark Leather, but it’s meant to. It has more citrus notes and cooler herbs, whereas Dark Leather centres around warmer spice and incense; there’s no citrus in site.
It’s worth noting that the Dark Leather bottle is all-black, whereas the original is clear grey glass.
Dark Leather’s Longevity
The longevity has mixed reviews when researching online. All I can do is talk about my personal experience. On me, it lasted around 5-6 hours, which is expected for an Eau de Parfum.
The sillage isn’t humungous, I would say it’s in close personal range, at least arm’s length.
Best Time To Wear Dark Leather
As a fragrance lover, my default answer is all day, every day, no matter the season. However, if I had to be specific…
Time of Day: Evening; this is due to its strong character, but again, because it lasts so long, wearing it in the day means fewer top-ups at work.
Season: Autumn/Winter. It smells warm, dark, and intense and isn’t on the fresh side.
