The Sun Care Code

Following the sun care code will minimise your potential for sun burn, skin cancer and premature skin aging.

The sun’s rays damage our skin, so it is important to protect ourselves from the harsh effects of UV exposure. Yet many people still do not know enough about sun care to choose an effective wardrobe of sunscreens for themselves and their families.

Protecting your skin from the sun is absolutely essential. This is true year-round, as ageing UVA rays can still penetrate your epidermis even in winter. However, protection during the summer months, from UVA and UVB, is now a way of life, but there’s a way to go before everyone protects themselves effectively. As more people are aware of the threat posed by UV exposure, the demand grows for sun protection products.

  • The best protection from the sun is to avoid it completely, but given its remarkable attraction for sun-starved Northern Europeans, sun protection is often a compromise between safety and enjoyment.
  • Wear a wide brimmed hat and long-sleeved clothing, as well as a pair of British standard sunglasses whenever you are exposed to strong sunlight.
  • Keep babies and young children protected from the sun at all times.
  • Avoid going out during the hottest part of the day: 11am to 3pm
  • Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration
  • Wear a high factor sunscreen!
