L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme Vetiver Intense Eau de Toilette Review

Vetiver Intense Eau de Toilette for review

Launched in 2023 as part of Issey Miyake’s L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme collection, Vetiver Intense was born from the fluidity and unpredictability of water. Crafted with just three notes – ginger, sage and vetiver – its aroma is designed for sophisticated, fashion conscious men and has a certain masculine aura.

What Does It Smell Like:

Issey Miyake’s Vetiver Intense is a blend of energetic and woody vetiver, warm sage and spicy ginger all toned down with a refreshing splash of water. Every time I smell this scent I am instantly transported to a forest on a sunny autumn morning. It conjures visuals of a freshly cut tree surrounded by green shrubbery and sun rays fighting their way through gaps between trees.

The fragrance opens with a vigorous ginger accord that creates an awakening freshness. This quickly clashes with hazy heart notes of sage and fades into closing notes of earthy, masculine vetiver, giving it a smoky green finish.

Perfumes That Smell Similar Are…

I would say that Vetiver Intense is quite similar to Dior Homme Sport due to its aromatic and fresh, spicy accords. Vetiver Intense isn’t as citrusy, however it still has a certain liveliness about it. Additionally, Issey Miyake’s L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme collection shares similar aromatic accords to this newer fragrance.

Vetiver Intense’s Longevity…

Vetiver Intense is an eau de toilette, meaning it tends to fade quicker than eau de parfums due to its water content. However this fragrance can last for around 4 hours on the skin and even longer on clothing. The scent does tone itself down after a few hours, but it’s still super prominent on my sampling strip the day after spraying. The scent’s silage is moderate, meaning that people who are standing about an arm’s length away from you will notice it most.

Vetiver Intense Wears Well During…

Issey Miyake says this Eau de Toilette is born from the impulse of water, giving it a refreshing and revitalising kick. Although there is a definite warmth to this fragrance that makes you want to cuddle up on the sofa in the evening, I would say the energetic punch of ginger makes it more of a daytime scent. It’s got a late summer/early autumn vibe, there are certainly still a prominent sunny aura about it with vitality inspiring ginger, but it has a cosy warmth consistent with autumn.

Vetiver Intense’s Design and Aesthetic Is Special Because…

The iconic 100% wooden cap is a salute to the simplicity and spontaneity of nature with tangible veins through the timber making each lid completely unique, whilst the brown colour theme of the bottle and outer packaging is a nod to the vetiver roots which infuse the fragrance.

Sustainability/Eco-friendly Summary…

Unlike Issey Miyake’s L’Eau d’Issey collection from previous years, this fragrance consists of only a few ingredients confirming that less really is more. Plus, all ingredients are vegan and 93% of them are of natural origin. The vetiver, sourced from Haiti, is ethically and responsibly grown for 12 months before harvesting. The unused part of the vetiver is then replanted as a regenerator for the next crop, proving the brand’s commitment to creating a sustainable method of production.

If that doesn’t demonstrate Miyake’s eco-conscious vision enough, the bottle is also made of 20% recycled glass.

My Overall Experience

Vetiver Intense is a vivid aroma. I love the way it changes from spicy and energetic to warm and aromatic as time passes. It’s one of those fragrances that you just can’t get enough of. It is addictive, fresh and uplifting and something I’d buy for the man in my life, just so I could lean in and have a whiff of it every now and then.

You Will Love Vetiver Intense If…

You’re looking for something sophisticated and zealous. If you’re a fan of the naturally infused fragrances from Issey Miyake’s L’Eau d’Issey collection or even if you just adore savoury, warm scents. Additionally, the vegan and eco-conscious aspect of the perfume gets a huge green flag from us!
