Our First Impressions

So many lip balms have been launched recently. So when the Butterglows landed on my desk, I wondered if there was a place in my beauty stash for them. But it’s safe to say that after trying them, I made room. Firstly, the packaging is chic and luxurious, far more beautiful than you’d expect from a lip balm. Secondly, they’re more pigmented than many other lip balms I’ve tried, meaning you can skip lip pencil/colour altogether and wear these alone. And finally, the shade lineup. There are 15 to choose from, more than any other lip balm we’ve launched recently; each colour also has pH-adapting technology, which adapts to different skin tones so everyone can find their ideal shade – in Lancome trials, 9/10 women found their perfect match!

The Formula

As the name suggests, the Butterglow Lip Balms have a creamy, buttery texture that feels hydrating on the lips and looks glossy. They’re not sticky; they feel comfortable, and the formula doesn’t slide around, so they stay longer than many lip balms I’ve tried in the past—I reapplied at lunchtime. The balm contains 12% squalane and ceramides, which keep your lips hydrated and maintain that hydration over time, smoothing fine lines for a smooth, flawless lip.

Noteworthy elements about the formula:

• Hydrates lips instantly and over time.
Plumps lips and smooths fine lines.
Glossy shine that isn’t sticky.
Buildable colour; you can wear sheer or layer up.

The Packaging

The lip balm’s packaging is very chic. It’s simple and beautiful with a modern octagonal design. The lipstick case is sheer with a light pink tint, so you can see the lip bullet inside. It has silver accents embossed with ‘Lancome’, which gives it a luxurious touch. Unlike many other lip balms in tubs or squeezy tubes, you’ll enjoy the ‘click’ sound when you’ve finished applying it with this design.
