La Roche-Posay Mela B3 Day Cream SPF30 Review

There are two key stages of pigmentation skincare: correction and prevention. The La Roche-Posay Mela B3 Day Cream SPF30 ticks both boxes! This moisturiser helps reduce the appearance of existing dark spots and prevents future pigmentation. Here’s how…

You Will Love Mela B3 Moisturiser If…

If you have (or have had) any form of hyperpigmentation, this day cream will be a welcome addition to your daily routine. Although it has ingredients that help fade dark spots (it’s designed to be used alongside the Mela B3 Serum), its key benefit is preventing them from reappearing or new pigmentation from forming.

What Does It Do?

The Mela B3 Day Cream is an anti-dark spot moisturiser that lightens dark spots, even persistent ones, to correct their appearance. This formula’s special feature is that it intercepts excess melanin at a different stage of its production before it becomes a dark spot, helping to prevent them from reappearing.

How Does It Do It?

The Mela B3 Day Cream SPF30’s formula contains Melasyl™, an innovative technology resulting from 18 years of pigmentation research and 6 years of development. Co-created with leading dermatologists and pigmentation experts, this multi-patented ingredient fights hyperpigmentation like never before. It’s, in theory, a melanin trapper; it catches melanin before it can become pigmentation, which is the ultimate defence. The formula contains 5% Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) to target existing marks, which soothes the skin and strengthens the skin barrier, in addition to SPF30, which helps protect the skin further from developing or redeveloping pigmentation.

What Does It Smell And Feel Like?

The moisturiser has a light, cream texture that absorbs quickly into the skin. It has an off-white hue with a very subtle pink shift, but it is invisible on the skin when blended. It leaves skin looking healthy and with a subtle glow. As for the scent, it’s very pared-back. It has a light, fresh-floral aroma that disappears once applied.

How Do I Use The Mela B3 Serum?

Apply it to the face, neck, and decolletage as the last step in your skincare routine each morning. If you’re going to be exposed to intense or prolonged sun exposure, use it in conjunction with a very high-factor sunscreen.

Mela B3 Day Cream’s Design and Aesthetic Is Special Because…

The Day Cream comes in a 40ml white tube with a screw-top lid. Its slimline design makes it easy to travel with.

Sustainability and Values…

Hypoallergenic, Non-comedogenic, Dermatologically tested.

What Else Can I Do To Correct And Prevent Dark Spots?

La Roche-Posay has developed an entire range that targets pigmentation. The Mela B3 collection contains a cleanser, serum, and moisturiser. La Roche-Posay recommends using the full line-up for best results. To prevent pigmentation, it’s also important to use a high-factor sunscreen daily if you’re exposed to intense or prolonged sun exposure; I recommend the best-selling Anthelios UV Mune 400 Fluid SPF50+.
