We’ve got some big news for the many fans of La Roche-Posay’s bestselling Effaclar Duo: a new generation of the blemish fighting fluid has just launched!
La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo + is the title given to this super charged product, which has been revamped in response to the changing needs of oily and imperfection prone skin. So, what’s different? One very important thing; the skincare doesn’t stop with the reduction of the spot. Not only does it care for skin during breakouts, but the newly enhanced formula also cares for the affected areas after imperfections have subsided to reduce the occurrence of acne marks. This is a pretty exciting development for acne sufferers!
The basic structure of Effaclar Duo + is the same as Effaclar Duo, and it’s used in exactly the same way (read our Effaclar Duo FAQ post here for a breakdown of its actions, uses and efficacy). The star ingredients of the formula are anti-inflammatory Niacinamide, an ingredient so soothing it’s used in La Roche-Posay’s anti-dryness Lipikar range, alongside a powerful combination of Salicylic Acid and LHA, which gently buff away dead skin cells, regulate oil production and unblock pores for softer, smoother skin.
The real difference with Effaclar Duo + is the addition of an important new ingredient. The revamped formula now includes the post-imperfection care ingredient Procerad, a patented ceramide that works to rebuild the skin’s surface and reduce the appearance of scarring. This means that the fluid not only keeps imperfections in check during their lifespan, but it actively improves their appearance, even after the worst of the inflammation has subsided. Over time, the pink and brown pigmentation marks left behind from acne outbreaks become faded, and the complexion looks more unified.
The texture of the fluid is optimised for those with inflamed, troublesome skin. Lightweight and cooling, it has a sort of gel-serum consistency that glides over the skin and sinks in immediately, leaving no trace. To limit the chance for irritation there’s not too much scent, but it does have a faint citrussy aroma which adds to the feeling of refreshment.
