KENZO Poppy Bouquet: The Review
Share
Twenty years after the original FLOWER BY KENZO, a new Eau de Parfum has blossomed: FLOWER BY KENZO Poppy Bouquet. And as someone who loves pretty, feminine scents, I’ve fallen in love with it.
Created by perfumers Alberto Morillas and Dora Baghrich, Poppy Bouquet celebrates KENZO’s heritage while bringing something new and exciting to the table.
As its name suggests, the fragrance centres around a trio of floral notes, while adding sparkling fruity top notes and a cosy, sensuous woody base.
So, if you want to learn all about KENZO Poppy Bouquet – its bottle, longevity and what it smells like – you’re in the right place; I’ve summed up everything you need to know in one complete KENZO Poppy Bouquet review.
The Smell:
When you first spray Poppy Bouquet, it’s instantly sweet, fresh and juicy – it feels almost like a glass of fizzy, fruity pop as you breathe it in – but it doesn’t take long to bloom into a floral heart that feels very typically feminine. As it warms on your skin, the fragrance mellows, revealing a wearable, comforting and seductive base.
The Notes:
Fragrance Family: Fruity-floral.
The top notes are nashi pear and mandarin; together, these create a refreshing, juicy and honeyed tone while celebrating KENZO’s roots, as nashi pear is native to Japan.
The heart notes are Bulgarian rose and jasmine; these notes combine to create a very floral aroma. Bulgarian rose creates a fruity-floral, honeyed feel, while it’s enhanced by jasmine.
The base notes are gardenia and almond wood; these notes work together to continue the luminous white floral theme but the more milky, additive facets of almond wood really stand out.
Poppy Bouquet also honours its predecessors; the iconic Bulgarian rose note returns, which fans of the FLOWER BY KENZO Eau de Toilette and Eau de Parfum will recognise; so of course, Poppy Bouquet has a pretty floral tone. But the fragrance is given a modern twist with almond wood.

The Bottle:
Poppy Bouquet reinvents the original flacon; it still features a single poppy shooting up the side of the elegantly curved glass bottle, but with an added touch of pink. Even the perfume itself has a subtle pink tint to it.
We all know that combining pink and red can be frowned upon, and yet KENZO does so with style and sophistication, making us question whoever said that pink and red don’t go! This only goes to remind us of KENZO’s fashion heritage.
And when the three different sizes of KENZO’s Eau de Parfum are placed together, they create a glass bouquet that’s fit for any dressing table.
Is Poppy Bouquet Unisex?
You should always opt for a fragrance that you like and makes you feel confident, so all genders can wear Poppy. Although I will admit that it’s a very floral fragrance, which is why it typically proves popular with women.
How Long Does Poppy Bouquet Last?
As an Eau de Parfum, it should last four to five hours, which it definitely does. It surpassed the six hour mark for me and although what remains is more of a subdued, creamy scent, I liked its more subtle nature as it means that you don’t tire of the scent and it’s not too overpowering.

Why Is Poppy Bouquet Escentual?
2000 was a big year for KENZO and Escentual, and now 2020 is a time for celebration. We’re celebrating our 20th birthday in 2020, just like KENZO has celebrated the 20th anniversary of FLOWER BY KENZO by releasing Poppy Bouquet. We love to think that we started in the same year as this iconic powdery-floral fragrance as perfume is such a big part of our heritage and our passion.
