Jean Paul Gaultier Divine Le Parfum Intense

Jean Paul Gaultier Gaultier Divine Le Parfum Intense Review

I know this perfume’s power.

The first time I tried Le Parfum Intense, three sprays received three compliments from all genders in the first three minutes of wearing and multiple ‘what’s that smell, smells lush?’ comments when people walked into our office half an hour later.

To say I was surprised by the effect this had was an understatement. So, if you’re looking for a perfume that gives off main character energy, this one should be on your to-try list.

What Does Divine Le Parfum Intense Smell Like?

Le Parfum Intense smells like salty, sun-soaked skin. It’s warm, radiant, and glowy. Even though it’s floral, it’s not delicate or shy. It’s bold, and it’s got body.

When you spray it, you can sense the freshness of fleshy, juicy fruits, perhaps pear. Then you get the hit of salt with a creamy shot of frangipani; this makes the whole thing smell slightly tropical and suncream-like. It’s amazing how quickly this scent warms up and deepens, almost like a sunset. Benzoin hides out in the base, melting the sweet, crystalline scent of amber to almost create this honeyed caramel dry down that lingers for hours.

Fragrance Family: Amber Floral

Notes: Salt, Frangipani and Benzion

How Does Divine Le Parfum Intense Compare To The Original?

Visually, the biggest difference is the darker golden bustier with more gold-ribbed metal. Le Parfum Intense has a peachier juice colour and a darker gold metal tin case.

Scent-wise, Le Parfum Intense has a similar solar saltiness, but it’s less sweeter and more vivacious than the original. The meringue notes have been swapped for benzoin, which gives the whole scent a darker sweetness which feels bigger and bolder.

Divine Le Parfum Intense’s Longevity…

I found that Le Parfum lasted around 9 hours on me. I went noseblind about after 5 hours but when I showered later in the evening I could smell it again.

To me, I Want Choo Le Parfum has the biggest aura/body/trail/train. Here’s how I would explain how it lingers/lasts…

  • First spray: lingers in room, can smell it as you walk past someone.
  • 4 hours: Someone sat next to you on transport could smell it.
  • 5+ hours plus: you’d need to be hugging or kissing someone to pick it up

Best Time To Wear Divine Le Parfum Intense…

From my point of view, Le Parfum can be worn day and night and all year round. But if I had to be specific, I would recommend it for nighttime due to the strength and intensity of the warmer, more intense notes. Especially if you love the original, this can be your bolder alternative.

Season-wise, the solar saltiness makes you think summer, but as it’s intense and deeper, it also feels warm enough for autumn/winter because of its sweet amber base.

Divine Le Parfum Intense Design and Aesthetic…

Le Parfume Intense‘s iconic design is so Gaultier. I love that the bustier bottles are still around and keep improving. For Intense, the gold is more intense, the ribbed corset is more defined, and the whole campaign is even more goddess-like. It’s everything Divine original was, only amplified.

I also love the fact that it’s refillable, which means all the attention to detail that went into the bottle won’t go to waste.
