Hollister Canyon Escape for Him Eau de Toilette Review

Taking a trip to the glorious west coast of America might not be on the cards at the moment, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t pretend; we can recall laid-back beach days and breezy long drives through the power of fragrance, particularly Hollister’s Canyon Escape for Him, a fresh and woody fragrance with an untamable energy and sense of excitement.

This Fragrance Smells Like…

Hollister Canyon Escape for Him opens with a collision of contrasts: the fresh, bright and sunny citrus tone on bergamot collides with the hot, powerful spice of black pepper and cardamom for an instantly attention-grabbing scent.

The heart of the Eau de Toilette blends soothing herbal tones with warm woody facets as sage, California juniper and vetiver unite before the dry down of earthy patchouli, oakmoss, and amber warm on the skin. It’s a nod to vast natural landscapes and the excitement of adventure.

What’s The Story Behind This Scent?

Created by master perfumer, Linda Chinery, Canyon Escape is inspired by the energy and unexpected excitement of a carefree, spontaneous and last-minute detour, and all the fun that ensues on an American road trip with friends. The scent captures the absolute feeling of freedom felt when you’re enjoying a perfect escape and making memories.

You Will Love This If…

If you love fresh, woody fragrances that are playful and light but still have an addictive, sensual base then you’ll love Escape for Him; it doesn’t take itself too seriously, but still has a summery, energetic feel to it.

This Perfume Smells Similar To:

This fragrance can be compared to Creed for men by Aventus; it has a similar fresh fruity opening and an earthy, warm musky base.

Is Hollister Canyon Escape for Him Unisex?

As the name suggests, this is marketed as a fragrance for men. It does have a woody, typically masculine style (as you see within the fragrance world) so I can see why it’s been marketed as such. However, it isn’t an overpowering masculine scent and has a light, pleasant freshness to it at first – thanks to the fruity notes – so it certainly has universal appeal.

What’s The Longevity Like?

I personally found that this fragrance lasted six hours, which is promising for an Eau de Toilette.

What’s Special About The Bottle?

The square-shaped bottle is made of double-walled glass that allows you to see the fun, blue-tinted fragrance within. The top of the glass has a randomised, angular finish to mimic a rock formation, capturing the concept of an adventure with friends. A rich woody cap perfectly contrasts the bold blue fragrance, adding a more natural, rugged feel while it’s embossed with the Hollister logo to remind you of the American fashion brand. It’s the perfect partner to the Hollister Canyon Escape For Her Eau de Parfum.
