Guy Laroche Fidji Eau de Toilette Review

Fidji Eau de Toilette

Still going strong almost 60 years after its launch, Fidji Eau de Toilette is iconic. Nostalgic and timeless, it’s a feminine, floral powerhouse of vintage glamour.

One-third of the iconic Fidji range by Guy Laroche, Fidji Eau de Toilette, is the lighter version of the legendary fragrance launched in 1966 by the French fashion designer.

The classic scent has a vintage heritage and was one of the most popular scents of the late 1960s and early 1970s. It’s got that nostalgic aura synonymous with the fashion of the time.

What Does It Smell Like:

In keeping with the Fidji range, Fidji Eau de Toilette has that iconic, vintage powdery floral aroma that has spanned almost six decades. Guy Laroche was dedicated to designing an aura resonant of a tropical island when creating this signature feminine scent.

Notes of fresh, tangy, citrusy lemon and bergamot enhance the sensual touch of galbanum. Rich jasmine and an iris heart mimic the delicious scent of the Pacific air, delicately caressing the flowers native to a tropical island. Subtle, spicy waves envelop the fragrance in sensuality, enriched by a deep, alluring base of woody santal and vetiver. Warm amber closes the scent, binding the fragrance’s iconic mantra: a woman is an island, and Fidji is her perfume.

Fidji Eau de Toilette’s Longevity…

Considering this is an Eau de Toilette, the strong redolence has a moderate-long longevity. When trialled and tested, it proved to be pretty triumphant in silage, too. I sprayed it at my desk, and everyone mentioned how potent and floral the fragrance is.

Fidji Eau de Toilette Wears Well During…

This would be an ideal fragrance for daytime wear as it is slightly lighter in potency than its Eau de Parfum counterpart. It comes in a larger bottle, so you wouldn’t have to be sparing with the amount you spray.

Fidji Eau de Toilette Design and Aesthetic Is Special Because…

A larger version of the Eau de Parfum bottle, Fidji Eau de Toilette, is encapsulated in an elegant glass bottle with a black angular lid. Its design is classic, iconic and timeless, like the scent inside.

Sustainability/Eco-friendly Summary…

In keeping with Guy Laroche’s Fidji range, the glass bottle and FSC-approved cardboard box are both recyclable.

My Overall Experience

Fidji Eau de Toilette is a perfect addition to Guy Laroche’s Fidji range. Its note arrangement is identical to its counterpart’s, staying strong with that classic powdery floral aura that has spanned decades. Although it isn’t my fragrance of choice, I can appreciate Fidji Eau de Toilette’s balmy, fresh, tropical aroma.

Additionally, I love the idea of Fidji Eau de Toilette being your daytime/work fragrance so that the Eau de Parfum can be savoured for evenings and special occasions.

You Will Love Fidji Eau de Toilette If…

You’ve already got the Parfum or Eau de Parfum version of this scent and need something less strong to chuck on as you head out for the day. Additionally, this is for you if you’re a fan of nostalgic, vintage, powdery floral fragrances.
