GUERLAIN Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic Eau de Toilette Review
Share
Zesty citrus and spicy green, GUERLAIN Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic is the scent of summer and sun-kissed golden fruits. Mandarine Basilic Eau de Toilette reminds me of a deliciously ripe satsuma with its green leaves still attached. Read my full review to see if you’ll love it as much as I do…
This Fragrance Smells Like…
Citrusy with nuances of fresh green notes, Mandarine Basilic has the perfect blend of sweet fruitiness and green herbaceous tones. It opens with a zesty burst of lemon, mandarin and orange, met by a sweet fruity-floral heart of blackcurrant and orange blossom with a garnish of fresh basil. As Mandarine Basilic settles on the skin, it becomes more sensual, thanks to the woodiness of cedarwood combined with energising green tea.
What’s The Story Behind This Scent?
Thierry Wasser uses nature as his core inspiration for every Aqua Allegoria fragrance, selecting only the finest ingredients sourced from across the world. And, as all the fragrances are designed to be an allegory of nature, it’s essential that each of the scents feature up to 95% natural ingredients to ensure only the most authentic fragrance.
You Will Love This If…
If you adore energising citrus scent with a soft touch of green, you’ll definitely enjoy Mandarine Basilic. Plus, if you enjoy the aquatic fruitiness of the rest of the Aqua Allegoria fragrance line, then you’ll enjoy the watery citrus side of Mandarine Basilic.
This Perfume Smells Similar To:
Mandarine Basilic has a similar aquatic, citrusy green-fresh tone as the Roger & Gallet Bois d’Orange Fresh Fragrant Water Spray. It shares many similar notes – like basil, mandarin and orange blossom – but if you love the freshness of Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca, then you’ll also love the green twist in Mandarine Basilic.

Is GUERLAIN Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic Eau de Toilette Unisex?
Yes – it isn’t overly sweet and its green undertones give it a masculine feel.
What’s The Longevity Like?
The scent lasts for around two to three hours.
What’s Special About The Bottle?
Thierry Wasser uses nature as inspiration for the fragrance and the signature bottle design. The iconic Aqua Allegoria design is so distinct with its opulent golden bee-themed flacon; a golden honeycomb pattern is wrapped around the bottleneck whilst the round golden lid is engraved with GUERLAIN’s bee – which is a subtle nod to their commitment to the protection of the bees and nature in many of their collections.
Values?
The French beetroot alcohol used in GUERLAIN’s Mandarine Basilic comes from a network committed to responsible farming. The bottle is made from 15% recycled glass and there are refills available for Mandarine Basilic.
