The Eucerin Aquaphor Review You’ve Been Searching For

Eucerin Aquaphor Review

Aquaphor is the number one dermatology brand in the US and has been working with Eucerin since 1920. Used by celebrities like Meghan Markle (as a highlighter on her wedding day, no less!), Beyonce, Molly Mae and Nicole Kidman, Eucerin Aquaphor has countless A-list supporters that will testify to this balm’s efficacy. When you hear the phrase “used by A-listers”, your first thought is probably that it’s out of your price bracket, however, Aquaphor is in fact very affordable.

Accessible to everyone, Aquaphor’s small price tag and versatile healing formula make it a staple in the bathroom cabinet of everyone from celebrities, eczema sufferers, parents to skincare enthusiasts. As it can be used in so many different ways from an intensely moisturising face mask, repairing lip balm, glowy highlighter, healing ointment, moisturiser or a soothing burn or rash balm, just to name a few!

• Heal a new tattoo
• Chapped lips
• Dry hands
• Dry cuticles
• Cracked heels
• Cuts and grazes

What are Eucerin Aquaphor’s Ingredients?

Eucerin Aquaphor review: ingredients

The thick balm is made up of seven key ingredients:

• Paraffinum liquidum: petroleum-based mineral oil that prevents environmental aggressors, bacteria and irritants that cause itching and skin to become damaged.

• Cera microcristallina: it reduces itching and soothes skin.

• Ceresin: this helps to thicken and give the balm it’s waxy texture.

• Lanolin alcohol: fatty ingredients prevent water loss, strengthen barriers and smooth skin.

• Panthenol: (form of vitamin B5) anti-inflammatory ingredient that retains water, boosts barrier function and regenerates skin while improving softness and elasticity.

• Glycerin: derived from plants, it hydrates deep layers of the epidermis and pulls moisture from the air, plus smooths skin.

• Bisabolol: extracted naturally from Chamomile, Bisabolol is an anti-inflammatory ingredient that hydrates deep into the lower levels of the skin while calming and healing.

Where can you apply Eucerin Aquaphor?

Eucerin Aquaphor review: where to apply

You can apply Aquaphor anywhere it’s needed:

• Face
• Lips
• Arms
• Legs
• Feet
• Babies 3 months+.

Aquaphor vs Vaseline

Many people liken Aquaphor to Vaseline and while it looks and feels similar, moisturises and softens skin, it pales in comparison. Aquaphor is semi-occlusive, which means that air and moisture can pass through the formula, creating a breathable plaster that protects damaged skin while it encourages wound healing, whereas Vaseline is occlusive (and will block out oxygen).

On paper, the main difference between them is the ingredients because Vaseline contains 100% petroleum jelly compared to Aquaphor which contains petroleum-based, paraffinum liquidum and six other ingredients, including lanolin and glycerin.

“After reading reviews online I got this to apply over my night cream. It’s intensely hydrating and leaves skin looking younger and more subtle in the morning has also reduced some of my eye lines. Will be buying again for sure! Also great to use on any dry or cracked areas as my husband also used some.”

“A bit like an eight-hour cream but without the smell. This is a multipurpose balm that will be excellent on sore skin. I have used it on my lips even though you’re not really supposed to. I can see this really coming into its own when I have a cold and get a really sore nose as I normally use Vaseline for this. A lovely, thick and unctuous texture. I hear it is also used to add shine to the face is a highlighter but without the pearly colour which some might like. I think Eucerin is a great brand and this is a good buy.”
