Clarins Multi-Active Day Cream SPF15 Review
Share
For many, their 30s are a busy time. Whether it’s because of career progression, becoming a parent or a homeowner, it can be an incredible yet stressful time. Clarins’ Multi-Active range is designed for skin during this phase of life. But the Day Cream SPF15 is particularly important in this line-up. When you’re always on-to-go, multi-purpose products are essential, and this combines your moisturising and sun protection steps. But are two things always better than one? Here are my first impressions…
You Will Love Multi-Active Day Cream SPF15 If…
If you hate having too many products in your skincare routine, a face cream with added sun protection is ideal for you. I’d usually suggest someone use both, but this is the perfect option if you’ll unlikely do two steps. As for who this face cream is for, it’s suited to you if you’re in your 30s and starting to notice first signs of wrinkles. The formula helps to combat the ageing effects stress has on the skin. If you’re unsure if your skin is showing signs of stress ageing, here are signs to look out for:
• Enlarged pores
• Uneven skin tone
• Dullness
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Dehydration
• Hollow features
What Does It Do?
The Multi-Active Day Cream SPF15 destresses and protects the skin from harmful UV rays. It helps your complexion fight against stress and its effects. It’ll provide your skin with the ingredients needed to revitalise how it looks and feels to restore a youthful glow that is more energised, smoother, and more hydrated.
The formula also helps to calm your mind – it contains an aroma that’s clinically proven to reduce stress by 20%, so its stress-relieving effects aren’t just for your skin!
How Does It Do It?
New ingredients are one of Clarins’s biggest changes to this range for 2024. It’s been upgraded. The day cream now contains a 97% natural-origin formula, including the Clarins Skin Charger Complex, which includes 2% niacinamide and organic sea holly extract. Together, they boost collagen synthesis, smooth fine lines, improve skin texture and reinforce the skin’s resistance, helping to protect against first signs of ageing. The formula has an SPF15, which provides low sun protection.
Also in the moisturiser is energising teasel extract and strawberry tree fruit extract, which helps to improve skin texture and minimise the look of pores.
What Does It Smell And Feel Like?
The Day Cream SPF15 has a silky cream texture that’s a little thicker than the day cream without sun protection. Despite this, it absorbs quickly, leaving a light layer of hydration and a subtle glow. The formula has a fresh-aromatic aroma (you can faintly smell the sunscreen) that is clinically proven to reduce stress by 20%.
Best Place and Time To Use It?
I applied it every morning as the last step in my skincare routine.
Multi-Active Day Cream SPF15 Design and Aesthetic Is Special Because…
If you’ve bought Multi-Active products in the past, you’ll notice a small packaging update. Now, the range comes in beautiful light pink and rose gold packaging. The glass jar feels heavy and luxurious.
Sustainability and Values…
The Multi-Active Day Cream SPF15’s cardboard packaging is printed on paper from sustainably managed forests.
My Overall Experience
I always use a separate day cream and sun protection. The reason for this is that I tend to opt for an SPF50+, and many day creams have low levels of sun protection. I made an exception to give this a whirl, and I now see a place for a face cream with sunscreen in my routine. I wore the Multi-Active Day Cream SPF15 on days that I work from home when I’m only exposed to low levels of UV and, therefore, don’t need to wear my usual SPF50+. Rather than not wearing any protection at all, this was a great alternative. It has a thicker consistency than the original Day Cream, which I put down to the added SPF, which my dry skin lapped up. I loved the glow it left on my skin and how smooth my complexion looked – on good skin days, I was happy to skip foundation and show it off!
