Clarins Hydra-Essentiel HA Restoring Cream-Mask Review

Clarins’ Hydra-Essentiel skincare collection is the answer to dehydrated skin. The hydrating range is packed with quenching ingredients that give skin a powerful moisture boost. In 2023, Clarins began renovating this cult-favourite collection, harnessing new ingredients to boost the efficacy of each product. Now, in 2024, they’re adding more products, filling the gaps, if you will. And one thing that was noticeably missing in the Hydra-Essentiel routine was a face mask, so I’m happy to report the launch of the Hydra-Essentiel Restoring Cream-Mask.

You Will Love The Hydra-Essentiel Face Mask If…

This face mask is perfect for all skin types – it deserves a spot in every skincare collection. Its superpower is hydration, and everyone’s skin can get dehydrated. Everything from not drinking enough water to central heating can cause it. You’ll reach for this hyaluronic acid-infused mask when your skin’s looking dull, feeling tight or itchy, and in need of hydration.

What Does It Do?

It’s a big drink of water for your thirsty skin. The Hydra-Essentiel HA Restoring Cream-Mask is enriched with moisture-boosting ingredients that’ll make your skin look glowing and youthful again. When our skin is dehydrated, it can look tired, and signs of ageing can be more apparent; this face mask’s revitalising formula helps to rejuvenate your complexion to be healthy, happy and hydrated.

How Does It Do It?

The Cream-Mask contains hyaluronic acid and ceramides, which boost the skin’s hydration and strengthen its barrier. The formula contains Clarins’ innovative Hyaluronic Acid Power Complex+ with acetylated hyaluronic acid, which works 13x longer in the skin to provide long-lasting results. It’s way more than ‘just another’ hyaluronic acid face mask!

What Does It Smell And Feel Like?

Fresh! It has a very subtle botanical scent that reminds me of a luxury spa. Its creamy texture feels very refreshing, which you’ll love if your skin’s feeling tight or itchy. I was shocked at how quickly it absorbed into my skin – it made me think, ‘Wow, my skin needed that hydration badly’! Even though the formula is white, it becomes clear as you rub it in, and once absorbed, it’s undetectable. Well, almost – it leaves a very subtle glow, and your complexion looks plump and bouncy.

How Long Does One Bottle Last?

As you can use the face mask as little or as often (Clarins recommend 2-3 times per week), the mask will last you a long time. I’d go as far as saying it would last for as long as 6 months. But remember: don’t apply too much; your skin can only absorb so much, and the rest just sits on top of the skin.

Best Place and Time To Use It?

Whenever you see and feel signs of dehydration, reach for this face mask. It’ll give your skin a hydration reboot. It’s the ideal choice for a Sunday pamper night or to prep your skin for a big event. I used it before date night with my husband, and my makeup went over beautifully afterwards. Clarins recommends using it 2-3 times per week.

Hydra-Essentiel Cream-Mask’s Design and Aesthetic Is Special Because…

The face mask has a gradient blue design that matches the rest of the new collection. It has a flip-top lid that ensures you’ll never lose the lid, and the formula doesn’t spill if you’re travelling with it.

Sustainability and Values…

The face mask’s packaging is made from paper from sustainably managed forests.

My Overall Experience

I’ve tried many hydrating face masks in the past. They’re a must-have in my collection because my skin often becomes dehydrated. When I first used this mask, I liked it. It was cooling when I applied it, and my skin felt really hydrated. It didn’t knock my socks off, but I thought it was ‘as good’ as other hydrating face masks I’d used in the past. My opinion changed a few hours after applying it. My skin still felt as it did when I first applied it – comfortable and hydrated, and when I caught my skin in the mirror, I was shocked at how plump and ‘juicy’ my skin looked. Even the next morning, I noticed that my skin looked better and my makeup sat better on my skin – my face wasn’t ‘eating’ my foundation as it can sometimes. I am putting this down to the acetylated hyaluronic acid in the formula, which maintains the skin’s moisture levels. I’ve added this face mask to my payday wishlist!
