Best Cream Highlighters For A Natural Glow
Share
There was once a time where we used to refer to glowy skin as just a dusting of blush and bronzer. Boy, have times changed! Unless you are blessed with naturally glowing skin (and let’s face it, most of us need a helping hand in this department!), the addition of a highlighter to your makeup routine is a decision you won’t regret. These days it’s a staple product in the majority of our makeup collections, but with so many on offer in various different formats, which one is right for you?
1. Cream Highlighter For Liquid Fans
Format: stick.
Texture: cream to powder, feels weightless on-the-skin.
Finish: an illuminated glow effect.
Shade: a range available, I chose ‘Rose Gold’
Scent: fresh and clean.
Apply: straight from the stick and blended using fingers, a sponge or a brush.
Longevity: it lasted on my skin all day.
I’ll be honest, the YSL Shimmer Stick is my favourite cream highlighter for a number of reasons. Firstly, I love the rose gold colour, it blends in perfectly with my bronzer and doesn’t look too light on my face like some cream highlighters can. Secondly, I appreciate how easy it is to apply – it blends like a dream and sets on the face and doesn’t budge. Another way I love to wear this one is under my foundation. I apply it all over, blend out with a brush and then apply my foundation as normal over the top to create a ‘lit from within’ effect.
2. Cream Highlighter For Powder Fans
Format: pot.
Texture: a cream to powder.
Finish: Highly iridescent and feels weightless on the skin.
Shade: available in 3 shades, I chose ‘cosmic’ – a rose gold.
Scent: no scent.
Apply: from the pot straight onto your skin using your fingers.
Longevity: does fade a little throughout the day, but still has good staying power.
The Shiseido Aura Dew is my go-to for a night out because it’s a little more intense than the other two in the line-up and has larger particles of shimmer in the formula. A little goes a long way with Aura Dew, you don’t need a lot because it’s so pigmented. I love to pop it at the very tops of my cheekbones and over my eye makeup and it gives the prettiest and almost wet-looking highlight.
