Benefit Fan Fest Mascara Review

Benefit Fan Fest Mascara Review

Could Fan Fest be your new favourite Benefit mascara? I’m confident it could be. After trying it every day for the last two weeks, my lashes looked like I had an LVL treatment – without the fishy formula smell, stingy eyes or awkward 50-minute development time.

What’s the Most Important Thing About Fan Fest?

In short, it makes you look like you’ve got more lashes than you were born with, the fan-effect creates more of a doe-eyed/open-eye look, which is perceived to be more attractive.

The curved wands helps spread lashes out, which gives length and volume – this helps to make sure all of the fair corner and outer corner lashes are picked up and used t create the full fan effect. Hooded eyes can benefit dramatically from this.

Benefit’s Fan Fest Mascara is designed to cater to short lashes needing more length and lift and those with long lashes looking for even more volume. The hooked brush lifts lashes for a full-fan effect that lasts up to 23 hours, making it your go-to solution for water-resistant, humidity-proof, and smudge-proof lashes.

Who is it For?

  • Short lashes looking for more length and lashes.
  • Long lashes desiring a lift that lasts.
  • Anyone that wants a mascara that doesn’t transfer.
  • Sensitive eyes as it’s fragrance free.
  • Hooded eyes as it makes the eye appear more open.

Benefit’s Fan Fest Mascara delivers a distinctive LVL lash effect, lifting your lashes more upright and giving your eyes a more open appearance. The stunning finish provides both volume and lift, as you can see above.

Hero Ingredients:

What I love about this mascara is it’s also conditioning. Benefit have added skincare benefits to the formula, which help to keep lashes soft and strong.

How It Works:

  • Conditions and strengthens lashes with provitamin B5.
  • Nourishes lashes with beneficial fatty acids from cranberry extract.
  • Defines, separates, and gives long-lasting lift because of rice wax.

The Mascara Formula:

Fan Fest has a natural wax formula that’s blacker than black. As it lasts all day, you need a heavy-duty bi-phase eye makeup remover to get it off, as it doesn’t work like a tubing mascara.

Scent:

From experience, I didn’t notice a smell, and after checking the inci list, Benefit Fan Fest Mascara is fragrance-free, making it suitable for sensitive eyes.

How to Use:

I tried all of the angles and found to achieve the best results, line up the curve of the wand to your eye shape and use it in a hooking motion to lift and catch all the lashes. As you apply upwards, use a wiggling motion, this will help lift the formula more and separate each lash. When doing the bottom lashes, flip the want to fit your lash line to see more defined results.

Need To Knows:

  • 2-3 coats helped me see solid lifted results.
  • Use a more steady hand when applying to the bottom lashes, but
  • If you need to top-up throughout the day, it does re-apply well, you need to take your time more to avoid the natural clumping that would happen when you load your lashes.
  • Using a curler before applying the mascara helped enhance the lift the mascara gave me.
  • It’s tough to remove, you need to use an oil-based cleanser to get this one fully off.

Packaging:

The mascara arrives in a pink box with the signature before and after visuals, with a lot of handy information on the clinical trials. The mascara comes in a sleek patent black tube with bold pink writing, complemented by a textured lid that resembles the feel and shape of the wand, which feels nice to touch – weird maybe, but don’t knock it till you try it.

One thing to note is if someone is looking for the black benefit mascara with pink writing on, it’s worth checking if the lid has studs on or not. If it has studs, they’ll be after Bad Gal Bang mascara instead.

Values:

Benefit Fan Fest Mascara is alcohol-free, fragrance-free, and free from essential oils.

How Does Fan Fest Compare To Other Benefit Mascaras?

How Benefit Fan Fest Compares To other Benefit Mascaras.jpg (1)

Fan Fest focuses on a lifted, wide-eyed look, whereas They’re Real mascara is about adding length, Bad Gal Bang is about adding volume; Roller Lash curls lashes and Bad Gal Bang Magnet is all about super length. Fan Fest will work well for all-length lashes, but is especially good for hooded eyes and short lashes because of its fanning effect.
