Avene Sun Care Intense Protect SPF 50+ Review

Caring for your skin doesn’t have to come at the expense of the environment. Thanks to Avene’s innovative new Sun Care Intense Protect SPF50+, you can thoroughly shield and protect your skin from head to toe without harming the natural world around you.

Offering very high defence against blue light, UVA and UVB rays, Avene’s environmentally-friendly sunscreen is one you’re going to want to learn more about. So, read on to find out everything you need to know about their exciting SPF for all ages, skin types and surroundings…

The Most Important Thing About This Product Is…

Avene Intense Protect offers incredibly high protection, all thanks to an impressive technological advancement known as Triasorb™. What does this unique, new patented filter system do?

Created after 20 years of Pierre Fabre research, this ultra broad-spectrum sun filter is incredibly safe and effective; it’s even the first sun filter to be inspired by melanin’s natural photoprotective power. But it gets better; Triasorb™ is also the first organic sun filter with the ability to absorb and reflect UVB, short UVA and long UVA rays, as well as high-energy visible blue light to keep your skin safe, healthy and youthful.

In addition, the broad-spectrum formula has been tested for use in the most intense conditions – from high altitude to tropical weather to high humidity – so you know your skin is effectively protected no matter the temperature, climate or location.

You Will Love This If…

I first heard about Avene’s new SPF towards the end of the last year, when the Beauty Team and I were lucky to have training with experts from the brand. Out of all the new product launches that we had a sneak peek at, this SPF was one of the ones that really jumped out to me. ‘Why?’, I hear you ask. Of course, I love its tech-driven, super high SPF defence, but I was also really impressed by the way that Avene has created a sunscreen that seemed as inclusive as possible, all while still promoting and protecting the natural environment.

In fact, you’d be hard pushed to find someone who wouldn’t love this SPF because it’s suitable for so many people. If you struggle with skin sensitivity but you’re after high SPF defence, you’ll love this sunscreen as it’s been specifically designed for the needs of the most sensitive vulnerable skin. It’s incredibly safe and includes an insoluble organic pigment that means it won’t penetrate skin – even damaged skin!

The formula is suitable for;
• Babies from 6 months old
• Children
• Pregnant women
• All skin tones
• Use on tattoos
• Use on previously injured skin, such as scars or post-dermatologic acts

The Formula:

Avene really have thought of it all when it comes to this sunscreen. It offers really high SPF defence – broad-spectrum SPF 50+, no less – while it also protects against skin-damaging blue light.

The 100% photostable SPF is also water and sweat-resistant too, so you can feel a little bit more confident knowing your skin is better protected as you go about your day (although no sunscreen is ever waterproof, so it’s still important to top up after a swim!)

The very high skin and eye-tolerance formula also helps to protect the cells DNA – and let’s not forget that this sun lotion is infused with Avene’s iconic Thermal Spring Water, which is known for its naturally soothing and softening abilities. To round off this hardworking, multitasking sunscreen, Avene has included a powerful photostable antioxidant, pro-vitamin E, to care for and protect your skin.

The Texture:

The sun lotion has a fluid texture with a pale off-white shade. Although the colour is fairly light, it still blends in easily for an invisible finish that doesn’t cause the common white marks that are sometimes associated with SPF use.

How Should You Apply It?

Apply before sun exposure by applying a generous, even layer on the skin. Reapply frequently – at least every two hours – to maintain protection, taking extra care to reapply after swimming, towel drying or excessive sweating.

What’s Special About The Bottle?

Avene’s sun lotion is held in a large orange-hued tube that’s ideal for keeping at home or equally popping into a handbag, backpack or beach bag for quick top-ups throughout the day.

Values

Fragrance-free. Silicon-free. Nanoparticle-free. It’s a biodegradable formula that respects the ocean – it doesn’t impact corals, phytoplankton or zooplankton.
