What Does Profondo Parfum Smell Like?
Profondo Parfum delivers a delightful mineral-infused, clean, and fresh scent similar to that of Acqua Di Gio. If you’re a fan of this type of fragrance, you won’t be disappointed. If you love Acqua Di Gio’s mineral, clean freshness, Profondo Parfum doesn’t disappoint.
As soon as you spray it, you can smell the zingy, green freshness of bergamot but the depth of this scent makes itself present from the start. When taking a deep sniff, there is a soft, subtle dried flower aroma that strikes me as lavender; this gives the scent more texture and dimension. Earthy notes of patchouli and the woodiness of cistus absolutely warm up the scent, providing a deeper, darker dry-down that still feels fresh hours later.
The Notes:
Top notes are marine notes and bergamot.
Heart note is everlasting essence.
Base notes are cistus absolute and patchouli.
What Scents Smell Similar to Profondo Parfum?
Profondo Parfum smells similar to Rabanne Invictus, Versace Eros and the original Acqua di Gio Profondo as they all share the same ocean, aquatic freshness.
Profondo Parfum vs Original Profondo
Visually, the Parfum is a darker bottle, representing the more intense scent inside.
Scent-wise, the original Acqua di Gio Profondo centres around fresher, lighter herbs like rosemary and lavender, and the Parfum has everlasting flowers that smell spicier and are more hay/tobacco-like, which makes the new one less fresh. The base note of cistus absolute adds a woodier and spicer (soft spice) dimension to the Parfum.
Naturally, the Parfum is more intense and lasts longer than the original Profondo Eau de Parfum.
Profondo Parfum’s Longevity
As this is a perfume, it’s designed to last longer than 6 hours. On me, 4 sprays lasted around 8 hours. I could smell it all day long.
Profondo has a wide sillage, and its freshness travels and carries well. Don’t be alarmed if people can smell you and ask what you’re wearing; it’s got that clean, sophisticated, and bold presence.
Best Time To Wear Profondo Parfum
As a fragrance lover, my default answer is all day, every day, no matter the season. However, if I had to be specific, I would go for:
Season: Autumn/Winter. I can’t lie, though; the intense freshness of this scent also makes it great for summer.
Time of Day: Evening; this is due to its strong character, but again, because it lasts so long, wearing it in the day means fewer top-ups at work.
Acqua Di Gio Design and Aesthetic…
The scent comes in a dark navy box, and I love that the bottle matches the box. The bottle is beautiful. It’s a dark ombre navy, made with weighty glass. The magnetic heavy cap and spray buttons are embossed with the Armani logo which adds a nice touch.
The campaign is shot in black and white, mimicking the intenseness of the scent. The video shows Aaron Taylor Johnson free running and diving into the sea; my favourite is him swimming with a big, friendly whale and the song Daylight by David Kushner.
