The scent opens with smoking spiciness with frankincense oil, elemi, cardamom, anise, and basil brightened with citrusy bergamot. The perfume’s heart is set alight with burning tobacco absolute, syrupy licorice, lavender, prunol, and fenugreek, complemented by fresh floral notes like orange blossom, osmanthus, and rose. A complex, lasting impression is achieved through smoky frankincense and myrrh, sweet benzoin, Peru balsam, and labdanum, enriched by leathery birch tar, vetiver, guaiac wood, and oud assam. It eventually settles into a smooth, creamy blend of tonka bean, vanilla Madagascar, and musk.
What’s The Story Behind This Scent?
Perfumer Cecile Zarokian creates the Amouage Royal Tobacco as an ode to smoke. A fragrant journey along the Tropic of Cancer from Oman to Cuba, joining royal frankincense and tobacco. The scent takes inspiration from the tradition of ‘El Lector’ who was responsible for reading to the cigarette workers inside the factory to engage their minds while they are working on the shop floor.
