If you’re a fan of Amouage’s beloved Honour Woman, you’re sure to be excited by Amouage Honour 43 Woman Extrait de Parfum; it takes the original to exciting new heights. Thanks to its potent 43% perfume oil concentration. Keep reading to find out all about this exceptionally high-quality perfume…
This Fragrance Smells Like…
Matured for over five weeks, Honour 43 Woman showcases a highly developed aroma with an intoxicatingly white floral tone. It starts with an unusual blend of delicate pepper, softly spiced coriander and fresh green rhubarb leaves, but these notes soon melt into the rich, heady white floral heart that powers the fragrance. Jasmine, tuberose, gardenia, lily of the valley and carnation are woven into the fragrance to create a hypnotic tone made for only the most loyal white floral perfume fans. Finally, the fragrance warms with a rich, woody-amber base of labdanum, sandalwood, vetiver, frankincense, opoponax and smoky leather.
What’s The Story Behind This Scent?
Created as an ode to the tragic fate of Madame Butterfly, the heroine of Puccini’s opera, Honour Woman is a perfume filled with a sense of poetry, beauty and femininity. The floral notes reflect Madame Butterfly’s love for her husband: tuberose represents danger, jasmine represents attachment, gardenia reflects secret love, lily of the valley recalls her purity of heart, while white carnation draws upon her innocence and faithfulness. However, those familiar with the opera will know that her loyalty and love are tragically misplaced.
Over a decade later, Alexandra Carlin has rewritten Honour Eau de Parfum to elevate its heady white floral tones. An impressively high concentration of perfume oil is behind its dizzyingly floral mood, which features double the average concentration of oil you’d expect from an Eau de Parfum (which typically sits between 15 and 20%).
You Will Love This If…
If you love rich white floral fragrances, this will be right up your street; its hypotonic, opulent floral tone demands attention.
This Perfume Smells Similar To:
As fans of the original would expect, Amouage Honour 43 Woman Extrait de Parfum is similar to its predecessor. Their note structures are alike, but the main differences are white floral facets, longevity, and power. The velvety white flowers have been taken through a slow yet active ageing process, keeping each fragile note alive as though they’ve freshly picked from the bud. The four floral essences somehow feel aged and richer, yet they feel even more energised, revealing a more velvety smooth take on Amouage’s iconic scent.
Is Honour 43 Woman Unisex?
As you’d guess from the name, Honour 43 is a fragrance marketed for women. I would say that this perfume has a more traditionally feminine style due to its white floral edge – but the only thing that matters about any fragrance is that you enjoy wearing it!
What’s The Longevity Like?
Honour 43 Woman Extrait de Parfum is incredibly long-lasting. I couldn’t believe how long it lasted on my skin. By the time I was testing this fragrance out, I had already tried Epic 56 Women and Reflection 45 Man, so I’ll admit I was expecting good things! I’m still incredibly impressed by just how long-lasting the fragrance is, though; it lasted an amazing ten to twelve hours when I tried it out for myself.
What’s Special About The Bottle?
Amouage Honour 43 Woman has an elaborate and glamorous design that will add a touch of elegance to any dressing table. Its weighted, double-walled glass bottle features a creamy hue in the centre to hint at the velvety white florals within, while the gold detailing creates an undeniable sense of luxury. Topped with an iridescent jewel, the magnetic lid slots into place with a satisfying click as the finishing touch. Oh, and how could I forget to mention the gold and cream box, which has a delicate pattern of overlapping butterfly wings as a subtle nod to its inspiration?
