Not many fragrances stay relevant for a century. But most fragrances aren't Acqua di Parma Colonia. The classic cologne, Colonia remains one of the top niche fragrances for men, 100 years after it launched. Now, the Italian beauty house is giving Colonia fans what they've asked for for years - a more intense and longer-lasting version! Let's explore Acqua di Parma Il Colonia Profumo...
What Does Acqua di Parma Colonia Il Profumo Smell Like?
Fresh, clean, and floral, if you're a fan of the classic Colonia, you'll instantly recognise it. The citrusy DNA remains, but Il Profumo smells more modern, which I'm putting down to the floral infusion, a move that makes the fragrance genderless, in my opinion.
Il Profumo takes the original to new heights; it has more depth. warmth and elegance. If Colonia sparkles, Colonia Il Profumo glows.
You'll Love Colonia Il Profumo Extreme If:
- If you're a fan of the original Colonia, you'll love Il Profumo. It has the same DNA as the original, but it's intensified and longer-lasting. The ideal option for special occasions or evenings.
- If you love citrus fragrances, Colonia is the obvious choice. If you're looking for a citrus-floral that's elegant and long-lasting, choose Il Profumo.
- If you prefer genderless scents, Colonia Il Profumo's citrus-floral aroma perfectly bridges the line between masculine and feminine.
What Are Colonia Il Profumo's Notes?
Fragrance family is Citrus Aromatic Chypre.
Top notes are Italian Bergamot, Grapefruit, Blood Orange, Petitgrain.
Heart notes are Rosemary, Ylang Ylang, Orange Leaves Absolute.
Base notes are Vetiver, Patchouli.
How are Colonia and Colonia Il Profumo different?
Colonia Il Profumo is a modern take on the classic Colonia. The original bright, citrus scent has been infused with aromatic rosemary, opulent ylang-ylang, and a touch of orange leaf absolute, giving it more depth and sophistication. Of course, the original Colonia is elegant and timeless, but Il Profumo takes that to a new extreme.
Important: the original Colonia isn't going anywhere! Il Profumo is a new addition to the range, not a replacement.

What's Colonia's History?
Colonia was created by Italian Baron Carlo Magnani as his own signature scent. It's deemed the first Italian Eau de Cologne. Colonia was built around natural ingredients, honouring the zesty citrus fruits that grow in Italy. The fragrance went on to become a pillar of the brand.
What's the Longevity Like?
Il Profumo is the longest-lasting of all the Colonia fragrances I've tried. I'd go as far as saying it's the most long-lasting citrus fragrance I've tried. I sprayed Colonia Il Profumo 4 hours ago, and I can still smell it on my skin. The opening citrus notes have faded, but what's left is a clean, elegant citrus-floral-aromatic blend.
What's Special About The Design?
Acqua di Parma perfume bottles are iconic; their Art Deco-style shape is instantly recognisable. The label also features the crest of the Duchy of Parma to celebrate Magnani’s – and his niche fragrance brand’s – longstanding Italian heritage.
