6 Scents That Make Us Feel Happy
Share
Here at Escentual, we’re all self-confessed fragrance addicts. And luckily for us, we get to try some of the best new fragrance launches. But as much as we love trying the hottest new releases, we all have a few old favourites that we keep returning to. And, to wrap up our ‘Fragrances That Make You Feel…’ series, we thought we’d share the fragrances that never fail to make us feel happy…
1. Serge Lutens Fleurs d’Oranger
Fragrance Pick: Serge Lutens Fleurs d’Oranger Eau de Parfum
Why Does It Make You Feel Happy? For me, sunny skies = pure happiness. And Serge Lutens Fleurs d’oranger is just that. The white blooms of orange blossom, jasmine and tuberose have a ‘scorched by the sun’ quality, while cumin adds an unexpected aromatic heat that feels comforting and warm. Whenever I wear this fragrance, my partner says it reminds him of Center Parcs Spa. And that’s probably where I’m happiest: in a spa, wrapped in a warm fluffy robe and sipping a glass of champagne.
2. Versace Dylan Turquoise
Fragrance Pick: Versace Dylan Turquoise Eau de Toilette
Why Does It Make You Feel Happy? Versace Dylan is one of the happiest fragrances I’ve had the pleasure of trying. It’s packed with loads of zesty, bright and tangy citrus fruits that make me feel like I’m sipping lemonade on holiday (which always make me feel happy).
In fact, if I had to choose a holiday pic that it reminds me of, it would be a photo I have from a holiday I took when I went to Prague. Me and my mum each ordered a lemonade while we were waiting for our taxi to turn up and take us to the airport, but we didn’t realise that they were meant for sharing, so ended up with two giant jugs of fizzy lemonade! We didn’t, admittedly, get through much of it. But whenever I scroll through my camera roll, that photo always makes me smile – just like Dylan Turquoise.
3. Miller Harris Reverie de Bergamote
Fragrance Pick: Miller Harris Reverie de Bergamote Eau de Parfum
Why Does It Make You Feel Happy? To me, Reverie de Bergamote represents a bright summer’s day, so it instantly makes me feel happy. From its bright yellow flacon to its citrusy top notes of bergamot, orange and tangerine, it is sunshine in a bottle. When I wear this fragrance, its joyful yet relaxing aroma instantly lifts my mood. This Eau de Parfum was inspired by the quieter mornings that lockdown brought to us and when I spritz this fragrance it reminds me to enjoy life and to take a moment for myself.
4. GIVENCHY Gentleman
Fragrance Pick: GIVENCHY Gentleman Eau de Toilette
Why Does It Make You Feel Happy? This fragrances is one of the first fragrances I ever bought myself, so it has a special place in my heart (and my perfume collection!)
Whenever I smell Gentleman, it makes me think of a time in my life – at university – when I was young, carefree and just generally very happy! Then, my dissertation came along and everything unravelled… But, Gentleman was there to pick me back up. It has an earthy-powdery quality, thanks to orris, which blends seamlessly in the dry down with grittier notes of leather and patchouli. Love it!
5. Eight & Bob Annicke 2
Fragrance Pick: Eight & Bob Annicke 2 Eau de Parfum
Why Does It Make You Feel Happy?
Annicke 2 always remind me of sunny days when time doesn’t exist. I spray it when the weather is dull and dreary to cheer myself up. The story behind this perfume makes me happy to. Annicke is inspired by lady named Annicke who perfumer, Albert Fouquet was fascinated by. He said it’s a representation of her charm and grace. So I always pretend I’m her when I spray it too.
6. Parfums de Marly Delina
Fragrance Pick: Parfums de Marly Delina Eau de Parfum
Why Does It Make You Feel Happy? Delina, Delina, Delina – even just the name puts a smile on my face. It’s such a beautiful scent. An utterly addictive rush of sweetness, Delina is the ultimate niche fragrance for sweet floral fragrance lovers, and though I enjoy experimenting with scents, I will forever be drawn to the sweetest of floral scents and Delina is exactly that. There are luxurious touches peppered throughout Delina from nutmeg and rhubarb to the cashmeran in the base, all notes that when paired with my favourites rose and vanilla are happiness inducing in seconds and enchantingly beautiful. Feeling tired or down? A spray of Delina is a boost for your senses and everything from my favourite shade of pink on the bottle, to the florals that bloom on my skin makes Delina my happy fragrance pick.
