5 Scents That Make Us Feel Festive

Fragrances that feel festive

Now that the nights have drawn in, the temperatures have dropped and we’re starting to see festive decorations pop up all around, we thought it was time we shared the list of scents that get us in the festive spirit.

From warm and spicy signatures to sweet and cosy scents, the second edition in our Fragrances That Make You Feel… series reveals Team Escentual’s favourite fragrances to wear throughout the holiday season…

1. Parfums de Marly Haltane

Festive scents: Parfums de Marly Haltane

Fragrance Pick: Parfums de Marly Haltane Eau de Parfum

Why Does This Fragrance Make You Feel Festive? “Haltane’s design alone reminds me of Christmas; the bottle has a deep pine green colour – and a luxurious touch of gold.

The scent itself feels festive too as it reminds me of decorating the Christmas tree – it’s packed with resinous woods, deliciously sweet praline and has a soft spiciness too. To me, Parfums de Marly Haltane is the kind of fragrance you spritz on your scarf on a cold winter’s day and cosy into as you head outside.” – Darcey.

Why Does This Fragrance Make You Feel Festive? “Personally, I think that the best part of the festive season is all the sweet treats. And, to me, Ghost Orb of Night smells just like Christmas cookies. The scent is sweet, warm and cosy with notes of cherry, almond and caramel. It smells good enough to eat and is perfect for the holiday season.” – Zainab.

3. 4160 Tuesdays Another Kiss By The Fireside

Festive perfumes: 4160 Tuesdays Another Kiss By The Fireside Eau de Parfum

Fragrance Pick: 4160 Tuesdays Another Kiss By The Fireside Eau de Parfum

Why Does This Fragrance Make You Feel Festive? “The name kind of already gives away why I chose this fragrance as ‘the one that makes me feel festive’. To me, it’s Christmas in a bottle.

In my opinion, there’s no other fragrance brand out there that offers such literal, but also such sophisticated, embodiments of a particular emotion, place or person. This particular fragrance creates a cosy, festive feeling from the second you smell it. It has a lovely smoky warmth that envelopes you; it’s quite literally like a Kiss By The Fireside. The nose behind the brand, Sarah McCartney, is a genius!” – Ben.

4. Serge Lutens Des Clous Pour Une Pelure

Seasonal scents: Serge Lutens Des Clous Pour Une Pelure Eau de Parfum

Fragrance Pick: Serge Lutens Des Clous Pour Une Pelure Eau de Parfum

Why Does This Fragrance Make You Feel Festive? “Des Clous Pour Une Pelure by Serge Lutens is inspired by the tradition of pomanders. I know, the idea of piercing oranges with cloves to ward off infection might not feel overly festive, but if you strip those scents apart – dried citrus fruits and warming spice – it’s very seasonal. Especially as, for the last couple of years, my mum has popped sliced oranges, lemons and limes into the oven to dry them out and make scented table decorations.

To me, Des Clous Pour Une Pelure is the scent of Christmas with a little extra spice thrown in (probably from the copious amount of gingerbread men I bake throughout the month of December).” – Kate.

5. GIVENCHY Gentleman Reserve Privee

Festive perfumes: GIVENCHY Gentleman Reserve Privee Eau de Parfum

Fragrance Pick: GIVENCHY Gentleman Reserve Privee Eau de Parfum

Why Does This Fragrance Make You Feel Festive? “Gentleman Reserve Privee is the newest addition to the franchise, and it reminds me of luxury chocolates you get given at Christmas – delicious! And because of its top note of whiskey absolute and its hip flask-inspired bottle, it also reminds me of my grandad; at Christmas time, he has a glass of whiskey to celebrate the season.” – Jade.
