Yves Saint Laurent All Hours Hyper Finish Review
Share
YSL has expanded its iconic All Hours range! All Hours Hyper Finish is the latest addition, a face powder that sets and mattifies. In this review, I’m sharing what makes it special to help you decide if it’s the missing piece in your beauty routine…
You Will Love YSL Hyper Finish If…
If you usually hate face powders because they cling to dry patches, highlight irregular skin texture or make your face look chalky and cakey, you’ll love this because it doesn’t do any of those things.
What Does It Do?
It’s a multi-use face powder that sets makeup, mattifies the skin, blurs pores, and reduces the appearance of imperfections – all without looking cakey or chalky. It’s YSL’s first 24-hour mattifying powder. It can be used all over the face, over makeup, on bare skin, and in the T-zone/oily areas.
How Does It Do It?
The face powder is infused with skincare actives and has 90% natural-origin ingredients. Hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, and limeta from YSL’s Beauty Ourika Community Garden keep skin smooth and hydrated. Its finely milled texture ensures a blendable and breathable formula.
YSL All Hours Hyper Finish Powder Shades – How Do I Choose?
The face powder comes in 11 skin-adaptable shades to suit a variety of skin tones. If you wear the All Hours Foundation, YSL has created the chart above to help you choose the perfect shade. If you wear a different foundation and are having trouble choosing, DM us on Instagram – we’re here to help.
What Does It Smell And Feel Like?
The powder’s sweet, floral scent reminds me of parma violets. It feels like… nothing. Light-as-air! Your skin will feel velvety smooth once applied, with a matte finish.
How Do I Use It?
The face powder can be used on bare skin to mattify and set makeup. Use the included two-sided applicator for a perfect makeup result. The beige sponge side is designed to deliver the ideal amount of powder, while the white fluffy side can be used for easy touch-ups.
What’s Special About Its Design?
In true YSL style, the face powder’s packaging is chic and luxurious: a faux leather, padded compact with a gold YSL logo. Inside the case is a mirror perfect for on-the-go, a two-sided sponge, and a powder embossed with the iconic YSL logo.
My Overall Experience
I very rarely wear face powder. I love a dewy finish and find that many powders get rid of all dimension, cling to dry patches, or highlight bad skin texture. That said, I am prone to an oily T-zone and sweaty upper lip in high temperatures, so Hyper Finish’s claims tempted me, and I have to say I’m converted. I tested both the translucent shade and shade 02.
What I love the most about this face powder is its natural appearance. It mattifies and sets makeup without the common pet peeves. The translucent shade was undetectable on the skin (as to be expected) and didn’t give a flashback (tried and tested). As for the shades with pigment (02 for me), I found the coverage light, which was great for days I wanted to use it on bare skin. When used over makeup I found it particularly useful for top-ups, especially on areas like my nose and chin, where foundation tends to wear.
