Swatches Galore.. The New Dior Addict Lip Colours
Share
Carrying on from our introduction to the brand new Dior Addict lip shades, we wanted to do a bit of a follow-up with some more information about the shades. There are so many new and beautiful colours to choose from, but sometimes the only way to get the true feel for a lip shade is to engage in a little skin swatching.
We took up the hefty challenge of sampling each of the 44 shades, and here are the fruits of our labour. So whether you’re still undecided about which shade to go for, or are looking for a specific hue, lose yourself for a little bit in our Dior-shaped spectrum of colour..
These colours were sheer, with more of a subtle gloss finish. They’re perfect “my lips but better” shades and are extremely flattering. Blush 353 was slightly more matte and pigmented than the rest, and Basic 253 was the most sheer.
These shades were slightly more pigmented, but still very sheer. Createur 445 is the most dramatic, and is a more daring shade for those who prefer natural hues. Singulier 465 is a perfect cool-toned pink amongst all of the warmth; a pretty universal shade that suits most skin tones.
These perfect pinks include It Pink 554, a gorgeous almost-coral that has a sheer, shimmery finish. Diorkiss 578 is another stand-out shade, with a pink-red hue that brightens up the skin tone immediately and is perfect for the summer.
For everyday wear, this group of colours was my favourite. Granville 621 was my top choice, delivering perfect orange-toned pink pigmentation in just one sweep of the bullet against my arm. There’s a shade here for all skintones, ranging from the terracotta warmth of Beige Mondaine 623, to the neutral Spotlight 612 hue.
These rock-inspired colours are stand-out shades in the pigmentation stakes, and these swatches were created using just one steady sweep. For the less brave, Rock ‘n Roll 750 offers a sheer pop of colour, whilst those who like to make a statement will love the orange-red of New Look 745.
These five are classic colours with a touch of edginess, reworking traditional ideas of reds and pinks. From the intensely shimmery hot pink of Reflet 763 to the almost-neon Fashion 753, Dior has hit the nail on the head. The sheer wash of bubblegum pink that is Paris 762 was an instant hit with me!
These eclectic, vintage-inspired colours are perfect for statement lips. Bobo 530 is a perfect orange-coral that is sheer and very wearable, while the deep, glossy red hue of London 783 is a perfect vampy homage to the ever-chic city. Baby Rose 561 is a really sweet shade for those who favour something a bit girly, a sheer pink shot through with ultra fine shimmer.
You can see how creamy the formulations are here, especially with Smoky 821! Couture 864 and Collection 865 are without a doubt THE stand out shades for the summer, giving a little nod to the forthcoming, highly anticipated summer nail shades that Dior will be debuting in just a couple of weeks.
And finally some of the more glam rock shades, including the initially-intimidating-but-beautiful-when-worn Perfecto 991. This is a purple-toned red: deep, dark and very dramatic. The bright Red Carpet 963 is a perfect red that is bold, self-assured and very gorgeous.
