1. Germs
Bacteria build up in mascara is destined to happen, as bacteria thrives in the darkness of your mascara tube. Every day, you’re putting your wand on your eyes, and back in the tube, and the growth can be slow, but it can accumulate over time, causing pink eyes and styes, which is why it’s important to switch your mascara every three months.
Did you know the most common germ growth in mascara is Staphylococcus epidermidis, which can lead to sinus infections and inflammation?
2. Poor Performance
This could look like flaking, clumping or the formula might end up evening smelling bad. Most mascaras tend to dry out after the 3-month mark, hence why it’s always best to replace your favourite to ensure you’re getting the best results for your money!
3. Sparse Lashes
Don’t confuse dry mascara with better results. A dry mascara can cause you to rub, tug and pull on lashes, causing lashes to become weakened and sparse. Don’t risk it!
