Through the Looking-Glass.. Vivienne Westwood's Naughty Alice

“A blend of naughty femininity in a magical universe” – Perfumer Bruno Jovanovic
Edgy, fantastical, and always tongue-in-cheek, there’s no doubt that Vivienne Westwood is a British institution. She has dressed the nation’s youth in subverting, iconic and effortlessly cool designs since the 70s, from fashion to fragrance and everything in between. The latest fragrance from Dame Viv is absolutely no exception. Drawing inspiration from the notion of a vivacious young heroine who lives in a magical universe, she presents Naughty Alice – a sensual and audacious floriental.
I was particularly excited to hear that there was a new Vivienne Westwood fragrance coming; I bought Let It Rock before even smelling it back when it was released in 2007 because the bottle, the packaging and the ads were so on the money (I love that orb stopper!). But Naughty Alice surpasses even Let It Rock – and then some.
Provocative and adventurous, the Naughty Alice scent is comprised of a dash of hot Pink Pepper, all wrapped up in a velvety bouquet of Carnal Violet, creamy Ylang-Ylang and Black Rose. The cheekiness of the peppery note is blended with both playful powdery girlishness and warm and sensual notes to create an unforgettable fragrance that subverts, excites and takes you on an adventure.
The packaging is chic and feminine whilst retaining the familiar Vivienne Westwood edge. The delicate Eau de Nil blue with it’s gold, paint-splattered cameo evokes a quirkiness that is reflected throughout the entire line, a mix of old world heritage and modern playfulness. Voluptuous and curved with an oversized golden stopper, the heavy glass bottle resembles a potion bottle; but instead of a note around the neck that commands ‘Drink Me’, there is a beautiful blue enamel bracelet with the iconic Vivienne Westwood orb stamp.
