Our March Beauty Favourites

March has been a challenging month, and there has never been a more critical time for kindness and self-care to get us all through this difficult situation. So whether you’re looking to treat a loved one or give yourself a little pick-me-up, here are this month’s best beauty launches hand-picked by our team…

#1 The Undetectable SPF

Image of Vichy Capital Soleil Mattifying 3-in-1 SPF50 held in hands with texture shown

We all know how important it is to protect yourself from harmful UV rays, which can damage your skin’s health and cause premature ageing. So, I always make sure my face is covered on sunny days – but I must admit that I hate the feeling of a heavy, greasy sun cream that also creates an unwanted shine.

If this sounds familiar, then this lightweight, mattifying sun cream is the perfect solution. Vichy’s cream offers incredibly high SPF protection, while the rich texture instantly melts into the skin and doesn’t leave any white marks. The formula also absorbs excess oil, so you don’t look shiny.

I was impressed by how effective this lotion was. It’s invisible appearance and light texture mean that you can easily forget you have it on!

#2 The Weightless Stick Foundation

As soon as I tried this foundation, I knew I had a new favourite. I never like my foundation to look heavy or ‘cakey’, so this stick is just perfect. It glides over skin effortlessly, and the coverage is so easy to blend in and build up. My complexion looks even and natural, and it feels silky-smooth too. It really is a happy foundation!

On the first day I wore this into work, I received so many compliments. Even when I took my makeup off at 9 pm, it still looked flawlessly natural then! It’s the perfect lightweight everyday foundation!

#3 The Multipurpose Mask

I’ve never used Decleor before, but the new Green Mandarin Scrub Mask intrigued me, and I just had to try it for myself. It’s packed with natural ingredients and strikes me as a ‘clean’ product that will be kind to my skin.

When I popped the lid open, I was taken back by how beautiful the smell was. It’s fruity, fresh and is a real joy to use and wear; I was pretty sad when the five minutes were up. The natural sugars and essential oils set it apart from any other scrub-mask I’ve used, as it felt extremely nourishing the minute I started to massage it in.

Better yet, when I reluctantly rinsed it off, my skin was instantly glowing and looked so much brighter, healthier and rejuvenated.

#4 The Peachy Blush

All I can say is that everything has been peachy ever since this blush has come into my life! The subtle apricot tones in Georgia have convinced me to ditch my bright pink blush.

Its shimmering pigments give my complexion a natural ‘golden-hour’ glow which makes me feel like summer is already here. And, its sweet fruity-floral scent is an unexpected treat each time I apply. A few sweeps over the apples of my cheeks makes the perfect finishing touch to a radiant look.

#5 The Mattifying Glow Powder

I have a confession to make; I usually shy away from loose powders under the pretence they are too messy and too much ‘faff’. And, I admit it – I was initially drawn into the simplistic white and silver casing of the GIVENCHY Blanc Divin Powder – I’m a sucker for anything that’s going to look beautiful perched on my dressing table! But, it wasn’t until I tried this mattifying powder that I fell in love, and my opinion has changed.

Firstly, don’t be fooled by the name; this light-as-air powder isn’t going to make your face look white. Instead, its universal beige shade adapts to all skin tones, leaving a gorgeous glowy veil that blurs imperfections in an instant whilst looking almost undetectable. I pop a little on in the morning as the final step in my makeup routine, but also like to give myself a quick dusting at lunchtime to limit any unwanted shine. I’d be lost without this in my beauty routine now!

#6 The Easy Cleanser

I’ve never gone a night without taking off my makeup. Don’t get me wrong; there have been times where it’s been a close call, and I resent every minute of it, but I always get it done. That’s why, when I’m shopping for cleansers I look for something easy and enjoyable to use.

The Perfect Canvas Jelly Cleanser ticks those boxes and then some. I look forward to cleansing because of it! The texture is a thick oily gel that melts everything away – including stubborn waterproof mascara. When mixed with water, it turns into milk that feels comfortable and nourishing on my atopic skin, plus the formula is made up of ingredients like sunflower seed oil and meadowfoam seed oil that support the skin’s natural moisture barrier. It also smells divine, almost like marzipan, which was the icing on the cake for me.

#7 The Luxury Styling Clay

My ‘getting ready’ routine is quite pared back. I have minimal steps, and I only use essential products to keep it that way. Now, a luxury styling clay may not scream essential to you but trust me, it is. The Colonia clay looks the business in an Acqua di Parma yellow pot, smells incredible, scented with the iconic citrus-fresh Colonia scent, and works wonders. The application is easy, and the hold is strong enough to keep my style, yet light enough that it doesn’t weigh it down. There are some things worth spending a little extra on, and for me, this is one of them.

#8 The Glow-Boosting Cream

I love to try new skincare products and am always hunting down ways to keep my skin looking healthy and moisturised. Although I’m keen to test new products, DHC products have become a regular in my everyday routine – because they work. So, you can imagine my excitement when I heard about the new DHC Olive Virgin Oil Essential Cream. I chose this product to review because I wanted to see if it holds up against my other DHC products, and I can honestly say that it does.

After using the Olive Oil Essential Cream I definitely noticed a difference. My skin seems more quenched; it looks radiant, hydrated and feels refreshed. The skincare brand’s motto is ‘feel beautiful in your own skin’, and I feel that’s achieved again with this new range. It’s also super affordable which ticks just about every box for me! I recommend using it with the DHC Olive Virgin Oil Crystal Skin Essence for an extra boost of moisture.

#9 The Spot Treatment

Image of Avene Cleanance Comedomed Anti-Blemishes Concentrate

When I heard Comedomed could clear spots in 7 days, I wanted to challenge it, and it surpassed my expectation. I’ve used it on my chin, nose, shoulders, back and chest; during the day, and the night. No matter what size blemish it is, I can honestly say by morning, all sensitivity goes, and my spots look half the size.

However, there are swings and roundabouts; this spot gel smells very strong. In fact, it’s exactly like straight vodka (some may like it). On the plus side, a strong scent instils a strong sense of efficacy. The scent may make you think it will dry your skin out, but it won’t. The smell disappears quickly, and there’s no tight or dry feeling after application either. My advice? Follow with a rich moisturiser or night cream in the evening to replenish lost moisture. Here are a few of my favourites.

#10 The Provocative Perfume

Image of Moschino Toy Boy Eau de Parfum Spray held in hands

I studied fashion at university, and distinctly remember the buzz when Jeremy Scott took the reins as Creative Director of Moschino in 2013. He is a real tour de force. All of the fragrances that have been released since his inception as CD have all been equal parts playful and individual, with a sprinkle of madness. So, as the first unisex fragrance aimed more towards men from Moschino, Toy Boy has been highly anticipated by many of us in the office.

It’s an intoxicating, sexy scent, yet totally not what I expected! There are so many gorgeous notes, but the standouts for me are the juicy bergamot and punchy pink pepper at the top, aromatic clove at the heart and the woody vetiver at the base – sublime! The silage is phenomenal too; I can smell it on others when they’re 10 feet away – perfect for a night out. The lacquered matte black bottle (which of course is in the shape of the iconic Moschino bear), will undoubtedly adorn many a modern man’s dressing table once they’ve smelt it, and I will definitely be one of them!

#11 The Masculine Powerhouse

Image of DIOR Homme Eau de Toilette Spray held in hands

I’m a massive fan of Sauvage (isn’t everyone?), but I thought I’d give the new Dior Homme a try, as it’s a brand new version of the original fragrance.

Well, I’m glad I did, because, what a fragrance! It has a powerful masculine vibe thanks to its intense woody notes, but the patchouli heart keeps things fresh.

All the men in the office have been talking about how much they love this fragrance. Plus you can smell like the Dark Knight himself, as Batman Actor, Robert Pattinson is once again the face of the Homme range, which has had its entire ancillary range repacked for this new launch.
