Swatches and Pictures: Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush and Watercolour Crème Bronzer

Although we’ve been chatting about the launch of Daniel Sandler cosmetics at every available opportunity since its launch, we haven’t really talked about some of the range’s more innovative textures in detail. To get a truer feel for what they’re all about, I set about swatching the bestselling complexion products, the Watercolour Blush in Flush and Cherub, and the Watercolour Crème Bronzer in Riviera

Watercolour Blushes in Flush and Cherub

The Watercolour Blushes are an absolutely ingenious way to introduce a flush of colour to the face. The silicone-based formulas are pretty runny (as you can see in the pictures below) , but all you need to do is apply a couple of dots onto the back of your hand, blend (ideally with the Water Brush – which you can currently get free when you spend £15.50 or more) , and then apply to the apples of your cheeks. A teensy bit goes a really long way, so don’t be put off is the colour seems a little strong in the bottle. The feel on the skin is silky and satiny, and the finish looks so soft and dewy. It’s also waterproof – a definite plus for those who’ve experienced the perils of stripy, tear-tracked cheeks!

You need far less product than this! The vibrant rose pink of Flush translates as a deep, blushing pink when blended, whilst the pale pink Cherub is a really sweet as complexion pep-up

In the bottle, Cherub is a pale dusky rose hue that instantly brightens the complexion. It has a micro-fine shimmer that translates into a dewy glow with a touch of frost. It’s definitely a shimmer rather than a sparkle, and it’s almost undetectable once blended. Cherub would look exceptional worn high on the cheeks for a natural just-stepped-out-of-the-cold flush, and the cooler hue means that it would look particularly good on pink-toned skin.

A tiny bit of the rosy Flush goes a long way! It’s a strong, true pink that comes across a tiny bit purple-toned against my yellow-toned skin. It has no detectable shimmer, making it a really easy shade to wear – simply dot a little onto cheeks and blend well. Flush is a highly pigmented, self-assured pink that suits everyone – but fairer tones should use it with a lighter hand.

Watercolour Crème Bronzer in Riviera

Daniel Sandler Watercolour Creme Bronzer RivieraYou can see how creamy and velvety the formulation is on the right – excuse the fingerprints!

The Watercolour Crème Bronzer is a complete gem. I have a particular penchant for make-up that I can apply with my fingers, so creamy formulations always pique my interest. I had a good play with this bronzer, and I’m impressed with its versatility. With a very light hand, you could get away with using this as a highlighter. With a slightly heavier hand or a brush, it’s the ideal tone for contouring the face. Build it up for a more dramatic look, or keep it subtle for a nicely bronzed glow. The possibilities are endless!

Riviera is such a gorgeous suits-all colour. With its microscopic shimmer particles, it leaves a subtle bronze sheen that can be built up to full-on gilded colour. Again, a little goes a long way thanks to the high level of pigmentation and its marvellous slip – one swipe across the compact can easily contour one side of my face. It’s a great multipurpose product, and can be used on the face, the eyelids, and the décolleté. Despite being only a few weeks old, this product is already a firm customer favourite!
