Sunny Delight - Binky's Get The Look Tutorial
Share
Hi beauty buddies, welcome to this week’s blog, and how amazing does it feel to get a little sunshine at last! I made the most of Monday’s Bank Holiday and put in some serious work on my skin colour, which was beginning to look decidedly pale and peaky. It doesn’t help that half the Chelsea crew have been sneaking on nifty little weekend jaunts abroad, topping up their winter tans with a first blast of summer sunshine.
Sadly, I haven’t made it onto a plane yet this summer, but I’m determined not to be the pale face amongst the MiC gang of bronzed beauties and man-tans! That’s why I’ve come up with this week’s sunny make-up look. Bold, bright and beach-ready, it’s a real scorcher.
You’ll Need:
Clarins Skin Illusion Foundation
bareMinerals Eyeshadow in Chic Nude
Clarins Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in 04 Turquoise
Guerlain Terracotta Light Sheer Bronzing Powder
Guerlain Rose Aux Joues Blush Duo in 04 Over Rose
Clarins Rouge Eclat Lipstick in 03 Petal Pink
Daniel Sandler Lipgloss in Super Pomegranate
How To Do Colourful Summer Makeup With Binky
Step 1: Ace of base
Begin by smoothing and evening out your skin tone with just a touch of foundation. I’ve used Clarins Skin Illusion, which I blended in with my fingers. Lightweight and moisturizing, this is a great base for summer (you don’t want a heavy cover-up clogging your pores when the sun is shining), plus it looks after your skin with SPF 10 sun protection.
Step 2: Bright Eyes
Apply a wash of pale shimmery eyeshadow across the whole eyelid, right up to your brows. bareMinerals Eyeshadow in Chic Nude is a pretty, light and subtly sparkling shade which highlights your eyes without making them look over-made up.
Step 3: Blue Is The Colour
Draw a band of turquoise eyeliner all the way along your bottom lash line – I’m using Clarins Waterproof Pencil in 04 Turquoise – and then along the waterline inside your lower lashes. Smudge it slightly with your fingers to blend it in and soften the result. And just in case you’re panicking about embracing that old Sloaney favourite – blue eyeliner – then fear not. Bright blue eye make-up is bang on trend this season. It was a huge hit on spring/summer catwalks and suddenly just looks hot again.
Step 4: Bring on the Bronzer
Using a big, soft powder brush, blend bronzer across your cheeks, forehead and nose, and under your chin. Guerlain’s Terracotta Powder is an absolutely amazing bronzer and, for me, one of the best products ever created. You guys must know by now what a massive fan I am of bronzing powder. It instantly transforms pale, wintry skin, giving it a gorgeous healthy glow. I would be lost without mine – it’s my desert-island beauty essential!
Step 5: A Touch of Blush
Brush a light sweep of blusher across the apples of your cheeks – Guerlain’s Rose Aux Joues Blush Duo in 03 Over Rose is a soft and flattering shade of pink that adds a gorgeous healthy flush to your complexion, giving your skin that just-off-the-beach warmth.
Step 6: Eyes Right
Now apply a subtle dab of the pale eyeshadow to the inner corners of your eyes. This will brighten the whites of your eyes and make you look more fresh, healthy and wide awake.
Step 7: Hit the Highlighter
Blend a subtle sweep of highlighter along the top of your cheekbones to give your skin a dewy shimmer – you can use the highlighter shade from your blusher palette like I have. The result you’re after is glossy, sunkissed skin, and highlighter really helps to fake that healthy holiday sheen.
Step 8: Apply Lipstick
Apply lipstick straight onto your lips – don’t go for a perfect, precise look but for a smudgy stain of colour. Clarins Rouge Eclat Lipstick in Petal Pink gives a fabulous shot of strong, pure colour that adds to the hot and steamy tropical feel of this look.
Step 9: Go Glossy
Finally smudge lipgloss over the lipstick, applying it straight from the wand or with your fingertip. Daniel Sandler Lipgloss in Super Pomegranate adds even more juicy holiday brightness to your lips and adds the perfect finishing touch.
