Refreshing Spring Scents.. Fragrances with Mint

One of my very favourite notes in a fragrance is mint. Not that overpowering Vicks kind, but the gentle, invigorating Polo Spearmint kick that is sugary and bracing. I recently sampled a scent that I’ve wanted to try for ages – Manuel Canovas Pink Riviera – which has a touch of mint in its top notes. I was expecting a tropical fruity scent, and instead got an absolutely delicious citrus-mint-floral fragrance that was both complex yet completely refreshing. Mint absolutely transforms a scent for me, and here are a few others that I’ve fallen for over the years..

Clarins Eau des Jardins Natural Spray, £22.05

This scent is an absolute bathroom essential. It’s my perfect day perfume: light and fruity with a touch of spearmint and a sensual base of patchouli and vetiver. Despite its subtlety, Eau des Jardins has impressive longevity – and has the added bonus of toning skin as it scents it.

Georgio Armani Acqua di Gioia Eau de Parfum, from £35.00

This is a brilliant fragrance for summer nights as it reminds me of a crisp and refreshing mojito. The mint leaves and green accord really invigorate the senses, and the floral heart settles wonderfully on sun-heated skin. I love that touch of sweet brown sugar in the base notes, too – completely beautiful.

L’Eau Serge Lutens Eau de Parfum, £85.79

I first smelled this scent on another person, and I instantly fell in love. Despite professing to smell of cleanliness and air, it is actually quite a rich and impressive scent – citrus and mint with a touch of floral magnolia and aromatic clary sage. It lasts for ages, and always attracts compliments.

Paco Rabanne Ultraviolet Man Eau de Toilette, from £28.89

My last pick is admittedly a man’s scent, but like the others on this list it is a scent that I have worn and loved. Ultraviolet Man is an absolutely unforgettable fragrance like nothing I’ve ever smelled before, a mix of mint, amber and vetiver that is almost intoxicating. I have friends both male and female who wear this one!
