With her expert insight, there’s no one better to take Black Friday shopping advice from, in our opinion! Here are the deals in her basket…
The Challenge
We asked Beauty Journalist, Vanese Maddix, to spend her 10,000 Pretty Pennies on her top Black Friday beauty picks!
1. Winter Skin Must-Have
My skin tends to be a lot drier in the autumn and winter months. As someone who suffered from childhood eczema, I’ve developed quite a knack for finding hydrating moisturisers that offer long-lasting moisture, which is why the Eucerin UreaRepair Plus 10% Urea Lotion is a top pick for me. It’s packed with a hydrating blend of ingredients that help to protect the skin barrier and relieve dry skin.
2. Gift for a Skincare Lover
It’s a given for me to think about the C word (Christmas) whilst shopping for Black Friday deals, and as soon as I saw the Shiseido Benefiance Anti-Wrinkle Discovery Kit I knew it would be the perfect gift for my sister this year. She’s recently gotten into skincare and is always on the hunt for skincare products to trial in her routine, and I knew this kit would be perfect as it’s got everything you’d need for an AM and PM skincare routine (bar an SPF).
3. Lash Boosting Duo
I’ve been wanting to try Lancome’s Hypnose Mascara for months now, so seeing this gift set in the Black Friday deals was the perfect occasion to finally test it out. On top of getting the mascara, you get the XL mascara primer, too, which makes this set even more exciting. I’m ready to slather my lashes in the mascara primer and mascara for lengthened and full-looking lashes.
4. Travel-Friendly Brushes
I travelled quite a bit this year and noticed that I always had a hard time figuring out which brushes to pack or often found that the brushes I intended to pack had vanished… (typical) I’m all about eye makeup, so a set of eye brushes to pack when I’m away was top of my Black Friday list. I’ve used Real Techniques brushes for years and love how well they blend out my eyeshadow and always remain good in quality.
5. Fail-Safe Fruity Fragrance
As a big fan of Jimmy Choo’s Floral Eau de Toilette Spray and I Want Choo Eau de Parfum Spray, I’ll always look to Jimmy Choo for my next fragrance purchase as they always get it right. Despite never smelling Flash, the notes of pink pepper, tangerine and strawberry intrigued me. Plus, the packaging alone deserves a top spot on my beauty shelf.
6. Favourite Fragrance Restock
You can never have enough fragrances, in my opinion, and I think it’s always good to rotate through your stash throughout the week. I’m really into my fruity-floral scents, which the Coach Dreams Eau de Parfum Spray is all about, and I can already tell you that this is fast becoming one of my favourites. It’s sweet but not overbearing, and a spritz of this will surely have people complimenting you on your scent!
7. Best-Selling Hair Treatment in XXL
I often dread my washdays as they can be so time-consuming, but in a bid to shake the dread, I like to use products that I’ve either heard people rave about, is a personal favourite of mine or is on the top of my list. I’ve tried Philip Kingsley deep-conditioning treatments before and always got on well with them, so it was inevitable that a deal on the Elasticizer Therapies Rose & Lychee Deep-Conditioning Treatment would end up in my basket. At 500ml, I definitely won’t be running out of this anytime soon.
