On The Piste..

Oh I wish I had a skiing holiday to look forward to! There’s nothing better than a morning on the slopes, followed by an indulgent lunch basking in the sunshine, and an afternoon working it all off again. If you have a holiday booked, I would trade places in a second…
However, my skin, hair and body is probably rather relieved that the skis are staying in storage… Blizzards, harsh sunshine, and sub-zero temperatures have a knack of dehydrating skin and hair – whilst days on the slopes prompt muscles to ache or seize.
If you are lucky enough to be heading away, here are my product recommendations…
SKIN
If you haven’t covered your face in a high-factor, broad-spectrum sun cream, don’t even consider sliding your feet into those ski boots. I like Vichy Capital Soleil Face Cream SPF50+, £14.50, as it offers the highest possible protection in a light, non-greasy base.
If you’re the kind of girl who can’t hit the slopes without an application of makeup (and I certainly fall into that camp), I strongly recommend HissyFit Saving Face Foundation, £19.20 (available in eight shades), which contains UVA/UVB shields to further protect skin.
LIPS
Slip Jack Black Intense Therapy Lip Balm with Lemon SPF25, £7.25, into the pocket of your jacket – there are few better products for moisturising, protecting and soothing lips on the slope!
HAIR
Hat hair, anyone? Whether you are exposing your locks to the elements or hiding it under a bobble hat day after day, the chances are that it isn’t in great condition. Your hair is screaming for a shot of intensive moisture.
Swap to Crabtree & Evelyn’s Jojoba Shampoo, £7.72, and Aloe Vera Conditioner, £7.72. The products are rich and hydrating, but won’t weigh your hair down.
Follow with an intensive hair treatment. L’Occitane Repairing Mask for Dry & Damaged Hair, £18.38 repairs, stimulates and regenerates, whilst protecting against the damaging effects of environmental stresses. Plus – as an added bonus – it gives locks an impressive shine, which is perfect for après ski!
BODY
The body is our temple – and it is also the key to a successful day on the slopes. Move aside your salopettes and ski goggles – and make room in your suitcase for a tub of Crabtree & Evelyn LaSource Mineral Muscle Soak, £15.69. It contains Dead Sea salts, trace minerals, and Algae extracts to ease away soreness and tension.
And finally… After drying off, massage aching limbs with the delicious Tisserand Muscle Ease Massage Oil, £8.10. The blend of organic Ginger Oil, Lemongrass Oil and Rosemary Oil provides instant relief, with the added bonus of hydrating parched skin.
