Oh So Lovely.. Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh

Marc Jacobs’ Daisy is one of those fragrances that you could never tire of, so I was automatically intrigued at the prospect of a new interpretation. Described as a “bubbly floral fruity”, with a “playful, luminous spirit”, Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh doesn’t initially sound all that different from the original scent. In fact, you’d be forgiven for thinking that it was another limited edition bottle change when you clap your eyes upon the bottle with its familiar round-edged glass and bouquet of flowers sprouting from the top. Eau So Fresh looks like Daisy’s girlier sister; just as gorgeous and whimsical, but finished in a delicate blush pink with nude, white and yellow flowers. Aesthetics aside, the gulf between the two scents is actually pretty significant, and the difference lies in Eau So Fresh’s distinctly unique juice.

Upon first spray, I can immediately smell crystalline, musky Violet intermingled with the cloudiness of Pear. Although it’s quite light, it’s a rich lightness – the notes themselves are soft but they are bursting with intensity. Before long, the ever so slightly sharp fruitiness of Raspberry and Grapefruit start to become more apparent, harking back to the bubbly brightness of the original Daisy. This is where the scent starts to become truly gorgeous: it is bright and slightly sweet, yet complex and completely sophisticated. Swirls of romantic Wild Rose and sweet Apple Blossom support the deliciously fruity top notes, until a peek of deep Plum signals the beginning of the end. A dry down of Musks and Cedarwood settles beautifully on the skin, leaving just a whisper of the gorgeousness of Eau so Fresh.

Overall, I just love this scent – Jacobs’ fragrances feel completely and utterly luxe, even when they’re a fun and fruity scent like Eau So Fresh. It’s an ideal mix of powdery vintage chic and modern fruity-freshness, with an added fashionista twist that will definitely appeal to existing Daisy fans as a playful alternative to their usual perfume.

Two thumbs up!
