A Guide to Nuxe
Share
Now, I’ve no shame in admitting that before I started working at Escentual, I was a bit of a skincare/haircare/makeup-phobe. It baffled, nay scared me and I was clueless when it came to what was good for which skin type or what brands were highly rated. However I have known about Nuxe for many years and one of their products in particular stands out in a league of its own, I’ll leave you to guess which one. However there’s a lot more to this brand than I gave them credit for so I’m trialling a few of their sell out products to gain a better understanding of how brilliant Nuxe really are.
Nuxe Nuxellence Jeunesse Youth and Radiance Revealing Fluid
Anti-Ageing creams are big business in the beauty world and every brand out there is competing to make you see that theirs is worth puchasing. This means that there is a hell of a lot of choice out there and it can be really difficult to choose which one is right for you, especially if you factor in what you’re expecting from the product itself. Boasting an impressive 10 patents, Nuxe have thrown the Nuxe Nuxellence Jeunesse Youth and Radiance Revealing Fluid into the mix to really spice things up. It is the product of several years research into the ageing process and apparently repairs Mitochondrial DNA to fight those pesky wrinkles. Sounds like good stuff huh? That’s because it is.
I was given this product just after it launched in the UK and as a ‘soon to be’ 24 year old I didn’t expect to see any results but I was pleasantly surprised.
The first plus is the smell, a subtle feminine floral, enough to be pleasant whilst applying but not enough to cause irritation once it’s on. The second plus is the texture, not runny enough to slide off your hand and not hard enough that you have to scrape it across your face! It is velvety and you only need a pea sized amount to cover the whole face. All the other plus points are the product in general as I noticed that after a week my skin appeared a lot less dull than it had done and felt smoother. After 4 weeks the fine lines around my mouth and eyes were reduced and I firmly believe that it has prevented new ones appearing.
I’m not really sure if I’m at the stage where I am concerned enough about the ageing process that I would splash out on this product regularly, but I do think that this cream would suit a lot of women out there. It is suitable for normal/dry and combination/oily skin, the only thing that will change is the application directions.
Nuxe Gentle Toning Lotion with Rose Petals
In terms of toners, this has to be one of our most popular. I’ve had customers telephoning to let us know how good it is and that speaks volumes in my opinion. The Nuxe Gentle Toning Lotion with Rose Petals is a gentle toner that helps to soothe normal to dry skin that sometimes experiences sensitivity. It is alcohol free so it won’t cause any unwanted irritation whilst you get rid of any impurities or makeup on your skin.
I used this morning and evening for around 4 weeks by applying a small amount to a cotton wool pad and wiping over freshly cleansed skin. It’s been lovely, It hasn’t transformed my skin but then I didn’t expect it to. It helped lessen the tightness I sometimes experience once I’ve finished cleansing so I will definitely keep using this, but perhaps not as frequently. For all those out there that may be a little put off by the fact it has Rose in, don’t be. It’s such a subtle scent that it is hardly noticable, definitely not the heady, strong scent we usually associate with Rose.
Nuxe Rêve de Miel – Honey Lip Balm
I’m a bit of a lipbalm connoisseur, there aren’t many well known ones that I haven’t tried so I was very happy when the Nuxe Rêve de Miel – Honey Lip Balm was included in my bag of goodies! This is a bit of a cult product and I know a lot of beauty bloggers out there swear by this to give them beautifully scented and soft lips. I’m addicted to lip balm, I hate the feeling of my lips when I don’t have any on but in general they aren’t in that bad condition, it’s more of a psychological thing for me than actually needing relief from dry, chapped lips. So at first, I found the balm (which has a ridiculous amount of nourishing ingredients by the way!) a little too heavy for my liking. It seemed to coat my lips and because it smelt so delicious, it was hard not to lick my lips. But I did slowly get used to it and I did notice that my lips felt a lot smoother and less uneven than they had.
I think for someone who does suffer from dry, chapped lips regularly, or someone who just wants a bit of a heavier duty lip clam for winter, this would be perfect.
Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil Splash
Oh my, where do I start with this little beauty? The Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil is one of my essential products. Made up of 98.1% natural ingredients it has a whopping 30% precious plant oils which are great for skin and hair. Personally I don’t use this on my skin as I’m not a fan of skin oils, however this is a must for my hair. I use it in the same way as many people use Moroccanoil; as a heat defence before styling, smoothing over hair after styling to prevent flyaways and also as a deeply reparative mask.
My personal favourite is using it as a mask and leaving it on overnight, because in the morning after washing it out my hair is unbelievably soft. I apply a generous amount of the product to my hair and smoothe through so at least all of the ends of the hair are covered, I’m unsure if it helps to repair split ends, but it does make them a lot less obvious. The smell is also divine, it reminds me of summer holidays abroad (which is good and bad with this weather).
However, just as I use it only on my hair, some people use it only on their skin and I have also heard many good things about this. Because it has 98.1% natural ingredients, a lot of these are super moisturising (like Vitamin E, Almond and Macadamia) so they’re great when applied to your skin. Don’t be fooled either, even though it says it is an oil, it isn’t a greasy texture. It has the consistency of water and coats the skin with goodness!
It’s available in both a splash and a spray format, so whatever you use it for, there’s a bottle to suit your needs!
