New Fragrances You Need To Try
Share
September isn’t only a huge month in fashion, it’s also a pretty big deal in the fragrance world. From Yves Saint Laurent and Prada to Gucci and Hugo Boss, every big fragrance brand releases a new scent this time of the year, and I’m always itching to find the best one!
This time last year we rounded up all of the best new launches (read that here), to help you sniff out the one for you. And guess what, we’ve done it again! So, whether you’re feeling uninspired by your current perfume or you’re searching for the perfect fragrance gift, here are all of the new launches that you’ll want on your radar…
For Her
Michael Kors Sexy Ruby is the ultimate ‘look at me’ fragrance. Designed to shine like the jewel that inspired it, the modern chypre perfume oozes seduction. For this launch, Michael Kors has designed a fragrance for a strong woman that knows what she wants; and she wants an exotic fusion of fruity raspberry and apricot notes, white flowers and creamy vanilla.
If you’re a big fan of Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances you may be wondering: “where’s the torso?”. And I can tell you that for the first time in 20 years, Jean Paul Gaultier is breaking away from its usual torso-shaped bottle and giving the legs the spotlight. Inspired by a woman’s power, fresh honey facets pair with blood orange and patchouli in this addictive composition – a fragrant blend that’s perfect for both day and night.
Presented in a beautiful, eye-catching glass bottle, I knew Girl of Now would be exquisite before I smelt it, and luckily it was! A floral gourmand, the juice has a perfect balance of fresh, sweet, green and warm notes, all centred around an Elie Saab favourite: orange blossom. Bright and contemporary, Elie Saab Girl of Now is the signature for someone that embraces life with both hands.
I am going to jump right in and say it: I prefer this one to the original! Feminine yet striking, My Burberry Blush is a beautiful creation that blends the DNA of the original with an uplifting fruit medley. With an almost tropical edge, this Eau de Parfum has a more apple-laced aroma, compared to the ambery character of the original. All I can say is if you love a fruity composition that’s not too sour, this is one to try!
It’s safe to say that Gucci Bloom is on track to becoming a huge success! The first fragrance by Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, Gucci Bloom is a rich, white floral perfume, inspired by a garden in full bloom. Feminine with a seductive undercurrent, Bloom is woven with notes of jasmine bud, tuberose, and finally, Rangoon creeper, a powdery smelling plant that changes colour when it blooms.
For Him
It’s safe to say that YSL Y has been a long time coming! The first men’s fragrance from YSL since 2006, YSL Y is a modern, masculine fragrance created for generation Y (people born in the 80s and 90s). Fresh yet sweet, Y marries geranium, lavender and white aldehydes in the top with a strong yet sensual heart and base of balsam fir incense and tonka bean. YSL Y is the obvious choice for a contemporary man.
Love a scent with a bit of history? The latest fragrance from Givenchy, Gentleman is the one for you. The classic 1974 juice has been reinterpreted as if it was made for the man of today. A modern woody-fougere, this sophisticated scent brings together fresh top notes of pear, spiced-up lavender and powered orris, with masculine shades of patchouli and leather. It’s one of those fragrances that you can’t help but love.
There’s been no escaping this seductive TV campaign lately; a campaign that sees a male model tease a group of onlooking women with his handsome good looks. Alluring and cheeky, Pure XS isn’t designed for those that prefer to let others take the lead, it’s a fragrance for a man that likes all eyes on him. Fresh and spicy, the oriental scent starts with invigorating nuances of green sap and white thyme, which blend with an almost icy ginger, spiced-up cinnamon and a base of sensual myrrh and vanilla.
Issey Miyake L’Eau Majeure d’Issey
With a heritage of over two decades, Issey Miyake L’Eau d’Issey is loved and worn by many. Timeless and fresh, this iconic scent range is expanded with the launch of L’Eau Majeure d’Issey, a woody-aquatic fragrance that continues the scent of water story. This time, the force of water is celebrated with a salty accord, paired with citrus notes in the top and in a masculine dry down of cashmeran. A clean and confident scent, Issey Miyake L’Eau Majeure d’Issey is one to consider if you’re looking for an Eau de Toilette with excellent longevity.
Coach may not be the first place you’d look for a modern male fragrance, but it should be! For 2017, Coach has unveiled Coach For Men, a woody aromatic cologne with an effortlessly cool persona. Inspired by American dreamers, the Eau de Toilette is a youthful and energetic scent that has a charming smoothness to it. Fronted by actor, James Franco, Coach For Men is a fusion of subtle fruity top notes, a spicy core and sensual dry down of ambergris and suede.
For Them
Hugo Boss The Scent Intense and Hugo Boss The Scent For Her Intense
The original versions of this fragrance duo were up there in the bestselling perfumes of 2016, so it’s unsurprising Hugo Boss has treated us to intense versions! The original compositions have been amped up, The Scent for him taking a darker turn with leather notes taking centre stage and The Scent For Her illuminated with honey cacao and osmanthus. If you’re all about fragrances that project, and you love being asked about your fragrances, look no further.
Emporio Armani Stronger With You and Emporio Armani Because It’s You
Ever heard the term ‘couple goals’, well these are the fragrances to match. Inspired by unstoppable desire, the Emporio Armani Together Stronger fragrances are a force to be reckoned with. Stronger With You has pink pepper and lavender facets, which give it an uplifting and energetic personality, while Because It’s You has a more sweet, feminine edge with vanilla and rose facets. Designed to compliment one and other, this olfactory couple was made and launched at the same time – talk about soul mates!
Prada L’Homme Intense and Prada La Femme Prada Intense
Last year Prada launched L’Homme and La Femme Prada, a fragrance pairing that even I thought couldn’t be topped – boy was I wrong! For 2017, Prada has outdone themselves once again with intense versions of the bestselling perfumes. Whether you were fans of the originals or you just like your fragrances to be strong and smooth (for him) or sweet and sultry (for her), I highly recommend spritzing these, you won’t be able to resist making them yours.
Dolce & Gabbana The One EDT and Dolce & Gabbana For Men EDT
Game of Thrones fans will be all over this fragrance duo because actors Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) are the faces of its latest campaign. Although the male fragrance isn’t new, the female counterpart is and it’s radiant! For her, you can expect a floral oriental with dominant notes of white flowers and amber. And for him, a woody spicy composition with a warm sweetness that comes from tobacco, cardamom, and amber facets. This is a fragrance pair made for a couple that always light up a room the moment they arrive.
