Relationships At Christmas: Work Friends
Share
Meet the real-life stars behind our Christmas campaign #LoveEscentual. Team Members, Nikki and Pat may be work colleagues, but they’re also best friends.
Although this year has been difficult for them both, Nikki and Pat have kept positive; fragrance, jokes and music have been their forms of escapism and fun during this challenging time. Get to know their relationship below…
About Nikki
Nikki: I’m Nikki, I’m 29 and I’m a customer service supervisor.
How has this year been different for you?
Nikki: The main difference is that I have not been able to spend as much time with my family as I normally would, which has been hard on everyone. I’ve also not been able to go to the gym as I would usually.

What Christmas traditions do you have, and how will you be switching them up this year?
Nikki: We don’t really have any long-standing Christmas traditions in my family but I’m was always the first to wake up the household on Christmas morning to open gifts. Our lucky animals always get to tuck into a Christmas dinner so I suppose that’s another! And who could forget the annual after-dinner family nap?
Nikki on Pat
Nikki: My lovely best friend is also my colleague Pat, I’m lucky enough to work alongside Pat in the customer service department.
Tell us about your relationship with them
Nikki: I’ve known Pat for as long as I’ve worked for Escentual (Roughly 7 years). We have always been firm friends from the get-go and I couldn’t have hand-picked a more kind and caring bestie.
What have they done this year that has made you smile?
Nikki: I think the question is what hasn’t she done to make me smile?! Pat’s always there for me inside and outside of work. Our silly jokes, the little desk dances that we do and her kindness always make me smile.
What’s the happiest memory you have with them?
Nikki: Gosh, there are so many memories over the years but my favourite will probably be the time we travelled to Ireland together for our good friend Emma’s wedding. We laughed so much over those few days, we got to celebrate, explore and take in the sights and it’s something I’ll never forget.
How do they make your Christmas extra special?
Nikki: Each year Pat makes Christmas at work special by helping to make up new work-related lyrics to our favourite Christmas songs during our busiest time of the year at work and generally helping my gift shopping panic.
What would you like them to know?
Nikki: Pat knows my mind so well that there’s no doubt she already knows what I’d like to say but there’s no harm in reminding someone how much they mean to you! I’d like Pat to know that I’m a very lucky person to have a friend as wonderful as her.
About Pat
Pat: Hi, my name is Pat and I’m a customer service supervisor.
How has this year been different for you?
Pat: This year has been different for many reasons, the main one being that I have not been able to spend as much time with my family as I would normally, especially my granddaughter, Phoebe. We have all kept in touch via video calls and lots of photos, which is great, but I do miss my cuddles. A lot of positive thinking has also been the order of many days. On a plus point, I managed to do a lot of decorating during the first lockdown, so that is a bonus!!

What Christmas traditions do you have, and how will you be switching them up this year?
Pat: A Christmas tradition that I have come to treasure is Christmas tree decorating at my Mum’s house. Phoebe and Mum decorate and I take the photos! My family and I always spend Christmas day together so it will be extra special to all be in the same place at the same time.
Pat on Nikki
Pat: I would like to introduce my wonderful bestie Nikk…
Tell us about your relationship with them
Pat: Nikk and I have worked together for many years and throughout that time we have become like family. We are similar in many ways, we both love our families and we have the same very silly sense of humour. Throughout the lockdown Nikk has always been there for me, cheering me up when I missed Phoebe, which has been most of the time! It’s not often that a friend for life is found, and I count myself very lucky to call Nikk my best friend both inside and outside of work.
What have they done this year that has made you smile?
Pat: Jokes, some good, some bad but always funny!
What’s the happiest memory you have with them?
Pat: Our trips into town after work (pre-Covid) opening the car windows, putting music on and singing our hearts out as loudly as we can!
How do they make your Christmas extra special?
Pat: By making the lead up to Christmas as much fun as possible!
What would you like them to know?
Pat: I would like her to know that I appreciate her friendship so much, she makes life a lot sunnier so thank you Nikk!
