A Guide to La Roche-Posay

La Roche-Posay Favourites

Here at Escentual.com we are all huge fans of French Pharmacy brands, and one of my particular favourites is La Roche-Posay. A company that uses ingredients that can be used by all skin types, even the most sensitive. All of their products are enriched with the famous Thermal Spring Water so the products are not only soothing but hydrating and moisturising. I was very pleased to be given the opportunity to be able to sample a few of their best selling products and let you know how I get on!

La Roche-Posay Hydreane BB Cream SPF20

When the La Roche-Posay Hydreane BB Cream SPF20 was first announced, so many bloggers were itching to get their hands on it, me included! There are so many BB creams on the market and to be honest, if you have sensitive skin it can be a bit of a nightmare, especially with all the ingredients that go into make-up formulas. However this BB cream is a dream to work with, it’s paraben-free, non comedogenic and also hypoallergenic so it’s guaranteed to be gentle on your skin. It comes in two shades, ‘light’ and ‘medium’, as I am ridiculously pale; I was given the ‘light’ formula to try out. In terms of coverage, it is fairly light but it does a good job of evening out the skin tone to conceal any redness or discolouration. It’s perfect for summer days where you want a little less coverage and also equally as a base before you put your foundation on.

La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 – Soothing Repairing Balm

If you tuned in to my tattoo blog post a couple of weeks ago, you may already know that I’m a massive fan of the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5, it’s brilliant for all different type of skin complaints and I use it almost daily. It has a 5% concentration of Panthenol which is highly reparative so it’s useful for lots of things. I use this on my tattoo’s when they’re healing and also on my lips. I was dubious about the latter at first as it has a more liquid texture than the regular Cicaplast but once I tried it I was fine. It glides on to the lips and works to moisturise the dry skin and alleviate any soreness. As it is quite a liquidy texture I don’t tend to use it as a lip balm on its own, but I do put this on, let it sink in and put a heavier duty lip balm on top for a double whammy of moisture, which in these winter months is greatly appreciated!

La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water Spray

Now this little product is the gem in La Roche Posay’s crown! The La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water Spray can be used by any skin type without irritation, it helps to calm aggravated skin and is perfect for refreshing your skin, at any time of day. The use of mineral salts and trace elements, including Selenium, gives La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water anti-oxidant, anti-irritant, soothing and softening properties which have been scientifically proven. I tend to use this after cleansing and before putting my moisturiser on, I spray a fine mist over the face, leave it alone for 2 minutes and then dab any excess off with a tissue. It just gives skin that extra little boost of hydration before you put your moisturiser on.

All in all, I loved using the La Roche Posay products I was given, even though I don’t have especially sensitive skin I could definitely tell that their formulations were a lot more gentle on my skin. Gently fragranced and ultra moisturising I am definitely going to incorporate these items into my normal skin care routine.
