Hold Onto Summer

Missing the warm, balmy days of summer? Not ready to pack away the flip-flops, sun cream, and sunglasses? Do not despair – there are plenty of tricks for holding onto your favourite season of the year. And the great news is that it involves treating yourself to a selection of spirit-boosting beauty products…

1- EXTEND YOUR TAN.

There are few things more depressing than the fade of a summer tan. It may be inevitable (caused by the skin shedding cells as it begins to regenerate) but there are ways you can slow the process. After a holiday, I always treat myself to a tube of St Tropez Tan Optimiser Body Butter, £14.50,which contains oodles of cocoa butter and natural oils to moisturise and nourish skin. It smells delicious, feels indulgent, and keeps a summer tan brighter for longer.

2 – BE CREATIVE.

Whether it’s your wardrobe or dressing table, there’s no excuse to hide away in depressing shades of black and grey. Think of your face as a blank canvas and brighten up every morning by getting creative a palette of beautifully bright cosmetics. This season, I’m coveting Dior Addict Flash-Plumping Spotlight Shine Lipgloss, £16.58 in Outrageous Fuchsia, and Dior Backstage Eye Show, £15.30in Pop Aquadelic.

3 – GET ZINGY. Surrounding yourself and zingy citrus notes will transport you straight back to the long days of summer. I’m a big fan of the aromatherapy brand Tisserand – and the organic Lemon Essential Oil, £5.30, doesn’t disappoint. Add it to a vaporiser (I prefer the ceramic kind, which can be placed around a light bulb or hooked over a radiator), or sprinkle over cotton wool balls and place them between clothes and underwear in drawers to carry the fragrance around with you all day.

4 – KEEP UP THE PEDICURES. Your feet may be getting re-accustomed to sheepskin boots, but that’s no excuse to forgo the pedicures. Keeps soles soft and nails bright and you will feel sunshine flooding back whenever you pull off your socks. L’Occitane The Harvests Lavender Relaxing Foot Cream, £12.25 is ideal, as lavender oil is a natural antiseptic (great for keeping feet fresh when hidden in socks or tights all day), whist Dior Vernis Long-Wearing Nail Lacquer, £14.45, in Blazing Pink or Psychedelic Orange will keep your step bright and breezy.
