I think we can finally say it: it’s beginning to feel a little bit like summer’s on its way. I know I’m jumping the gun a bit, but with temperatures hotting up and brands teasing us their big summer launches, it’s hard not to get swept up in the excitement, isn’t it?

One of those aforementioned launches is this new one from Guerlain, the Terracotta Joli Teint Beautifying Foundation. You may have been introduced to the Terracotta franchise through the iconic Terracotta Bronzer (FACT: one bronzer sells somewhere in the world every 20 seconds!), and since the range was founded 30 years ago it’s grown to include a whole host of products that enhance, prolong and mimic the effects of a tan. With such a well-established heritage in the bronzing arena, its fair to say that new products make fans sit up and take notice. And this new summer base doesn’t disappoint.

Guerlain Terracotta Joli Teint

Joli Teint is designed to simulate the effects of a natural tan for those who’d like to wear a little something during the warmer months without masking their natural tone completely. It’s sheer, comfortable and balanced, and almost more akin to a complexion enhancer than a traditional foundation.

The ultra-sensorial fluid has added natural extracts to boost radiance, healthy glow pigments to even out the skin, and an SPF of 20 to protect against sun-related premature ageing. After use, skin looks really fresh and ‘glowy’, as if you’ve spent time in the sun. It’s a versatile year-round base for those who, like me, tend to find that their face is a few shades lighter than the rest of their body. It’s also a lovely choice for the beginning of summer when you’re looking to lighten up your make-up bag, and summer evenings when you’d like to look polished without masking your bronzed glow.

In terms of texture, Joli Teint provides more coverage than Terracotta Skin but less than the Lingerie de Peau BB cream. It’s more akin to the BB cream in its prioritisation of radiance and hydration – it makes the skin feel so fresh and luminous! There are five shades in all: Light, Natural (above), Medium, Dark and Ebony, which is a welcome addition for those with darker skin, as Guerlain foundations don’t usually offer quite such a broad range.

Look out for more additions to the lauded Terracotta range later this summer as it celebrates 30 years of bronzing men and women the world over. There’re some very exciting limited edition products to fall in love with!
