Guerlain Summer Look 2015 Swatches
Share
This summer, Guerlain is taking us on a trip. Pack your passport and your favourite sunnies because they’re bringing a touch of French style to the US of A with their seasonal make-up look, ‘Palm Beach or Palm Springs‘ – and it’s set to be a fun party.
Guerlain’s mantra this season is “colour your summer”, and it’s a brief that Creative Director, Nicolas Degennes, has really taken to heart. Everywhere you look in the Palm Beach or Palm Springs collection there’s tangy brightness and eye-catching finishes, and what makes the collection even more intriguing is that this fun-filled colour is signed with Guerlain’s famed elegance. The shimmer is refined, the bright hues are balanced with fine textures, and everything is packaged so beautifully, it’s exceedingly difficult to choose a favourite.
Packed and ready? Let’s head to the beach…
My Terracotta Bronzing Powder
in 02 Natural Blondes & 03 Natural Brunettes
The star of this year’s summer collection is the Guerlain My Terracotta Bronzing Powder. Now, if you’re thinking that the bronzer looks familiar, you’d be right; My Terracotta is Guerlain’s original Terracotta bronzer reinvented with a limited edition, beachy twist – its own silicone case! It’s a small addition, but a really handy (and not to mention chic) one, for the case makes your bronzer truly portable. Sand scratches and beach bag knocks are a thing of the past with the reusable silicone casing, and it adds an eye-catching twist to the enduring beauty icon.
The bronzer comes in two shades: the slightly pink-toned bronze of 02 Natural Blondes in an aqua case, as modelled by Chelsey on the right, and the golden-toned 03 Natural Brunettes with its coral case, worn by Ceryn on the left. There’s a third, exclusive bronzer available a sky blue shell, and we’ve got our hands on six of them – win one in our Guerlain competition here!
Terracotta Sun Protection Compact
in Sand and Bronze
Ever wish your foundation would work a bit harder for you when you’re in the sun? The Guerlain Terracotta Sun Protection Compact is a triple threat – not only does it offer the comfortable, tactile coverage for which Guerlain is famed, but it also contains an SPF of 20, AND it’s water resistant. Like the other products in the summer collection it’s optimised for travel, with slim, lightweight casing and a creamy format, which is easily applied on the go with the included sponge.
The Sun Protection Compact Foundation in Sand offers warmth to fairer tones during the summer months with its golden hue, while Bronze is ideal for medium tones. Each shade is also ideal for light sculpting and contouring thanks to their buildable, ultra-fine textures.
Summer Shadow Waterproof Cream
in Blue Ocean and White Sand
The entire Palm Springs/Palm Beach collection is tailored toward easy, impactful colour and textures – and the Guerlain Summer Shadow Waterproof Cream Eye Shadow is a prime example of this. It’s ultra-lightweight with a practical doe-foot sponge that makes application an absolute breeze. Simply dot or sweep on and blend for a wash of beautiful pearlised colour, and wait a few seconds for it to dry to its sheer, waterproof finish.
The Summer Shadow is available in two shades: White Sand, a beautiful white gold pearl that can also be used as a highlighter on your cheeks, nose and Cupid’s bow, and Blue Ocean, a playful aqua shade that lights up eyes with colour. Stash one in your beach bag for lightning quick beach-to-bar eyes.
Rouge Automatique Lipstick
in 602 Yellow It-Stick & 662 Fluo Stiletto
Guerlain’s lipstick offering is delightfully risky this summer – there’s no room for wallflowers here! The Rouge Automatique Lipstick in 602 Yellow It-Stick presents itself as an intriguing jolt of canary yellow, but all isn’t as it seems. On the lips it’s actually a semi-sheer wash of bright golden shimmer, which looks amazing on brunettes and tanned skin.
Slightly more conventional (although still on the bold side of things) is 662 Fluo Stiletto, a no-holds-barred hot fuchsia pink. One swipe of colour and you’re set with this one, although you’ll need a lip liner to keep everything looking flawless.
Khol Me Kajal
in Noir
Khol Me Kajal fans, rejoice – the famous liner is back for summer 2015. Easy, sultry summer eyes is what Khol Me Kajal is all about, and a look that’s effortlessly achieved thanks to its pigmented, tapered tip, which glides across skin and delivers rich colour without dragging.
To nail the look, simply trace the liner along your lash line and go back in with your finger or a brush, gently buffing the line to achieve a sexy, smoked-out look. Go for even more intensity by colouring the water line, or create all-out drama by using the Khol Me Kajal as an eyeshadow pencil across the entire lid. Forget a neat little flick, because this liner is all about undone intensity – although if you’re set on your cat eye, you can intensify the colour with the kohl, as demonstrated above.
Colour Lacquer Nail Varnish
in 700 Blue Ocean
And to finish the look, a touch of bitingly fresh aqua. Not quite blue, and not quite green, the Guerlain Colour Lacquer in 700 Blue Ocean is the sort of shade I’d imagine a mermaid might wear. It has a touch of subtle shimmer that keeps the shade looking lively and fresh, and dries to an opaque finish after three coats (sheer in one, semi-opaque in two).
So, that’s the collection! What do you think?
