Lipstick lovers, unite – there’s a brand new texture to fall in love with! Between a balm and a lipstick is where you’ll find Givenchy Le Rouge-a-Porter, a sheer lip colour that’s big on radiance, comfort and glossiness.
We caught up with Givenchy Pro Make-Up Artist, Shadia Rahman, to find out her top tips for making the most out of this spring/summer lip essential, plus her can’t-miss shades from the stellar line up…
1) What’s so special about Le Rouge-A-Porter?
Le Rouge-A-Porter is the lipstick for people who don’t wear lipstick. It will give you that sheer finish, just a flush of colour. It has a balm like texture and is very moisturising. There are 16 gorgeous shades to choose from.
2) What are the differences between Le Rouge and Le Rouge-A-Porter?
Think of Le Rouge as the Couture lipstick and Le Rouge-A-Porter as the ready-to-wear lipstick. The iconic real leather case is still very much a feature of both Le Rouge-A-Porter & Le Rouge and for those looking for semi matte intense colour, Le Rouge is the answer. Anyone wanting a softer glossier finish, go for Le Rouge-A-Porter!
3) How to choose my perfect shade?
Of course you can wear any colour, but consider your skin tone. If you have a warmer skin tone then the warmer colours will complement your skin slightly better. And cooler tones work best for a cool skin tone. This is just a guide though so feel free to experiment and wear any colour – I do!
4) What’s the best way to apply this new texture?
Always apply a lip liner like the Rouge Interdit Lip Liner before your lipstick as this will shape the lip and hold the colour in place. These lipsticks are very slim and allow precise application straight from the bullet so feel confident when topping up on the go!
5) What are your favourite colours in the new range?
I love the deeper ‘Les Creations’ colours of Le Rouge-A-Porter (shades 301 Vermillon Creation, 302 Rouge Atelier, 303 Framboise Griffee and 304 Moka Imprime, below). As these lipsticks give a sheer finish, the colour is not too intense but the depth is still apparent without being obvious. You still have the option to go for full coverage with the colour by applying the lip liner all over the lip and the Le Rouge-A-Porter on top.
6) How many shades of lipstick do I need to create a great lip wardrobe?
Finding the right nude for you is important. Consider your lip colour and find something similar rather than a tone close to your skin. This will complement any dramatic eye look. I would always have a perfect red in your lipstick wardrobe as every girl needs this for a classic 20s inspired look. Personally, I will then always have a summer shade and a winter shade which changes according to the trends of that year.
7) What are the hottest shades for spring/summer?
Le Rouge-A-Porter will be very on trend this year. This spring/summer, it’s more about a flush of colour rather than a full coverage intense colour lip. Think glowing sun kissed bronzed skin with just a subtle hint of colour on the lips. The lip colour should not be the focus but rather compliment the skin. Nails are big this year though and will be anything but subtle. Forget matching lips and nails – nails are their own focus! Keep a look out for our new colours launching soon.
