Get A Party Perfect Look With Dior and Escentual

Next up in our Dior Get The Look series is is some sophisticated party makeup, just in time for New Year’s Eve. Especially for those who regularly find themselves going from office to bar, we wanted to fuse classic beauty with a touch of something special, so that you can build upon your everyday look and still look suitably glamorous.
Our inspiration stems from the beautiful golden tones featured in the Dior Christmas collection, plus the metallic smoky eyes seen on the SS13 catwalk. Armed with a selection of both core and limited edition Dior must-haves, regional Dior make-up artist Carrie transformed editor Emma’s everyday look into something altogether more special…
Step 1: Create an ideal base.
Carrie perfected Emma’s skin with the Diorskin Forever foundation, and then set to work on her eyes. She look the lightest shade from the Dior 3 Couleurs Smoky Palette in 781 Smoky Brown and applied it all over the lid.
Step 2: Darken the crease.
To add real depth to your eye look, you need to exaggerate the natural shadow of your eye crease. Carrie mixed the two darker shades of the Dior 3 Couleurs Smoky Palette and buffed the colour into the other 1/3 of the eye and the crease.
Step 3: Take the colour underneath the lid.
Using just the darker shade of the same palette, work the colour into the upper lash line. Don’t forget to take the colour underneath the eye, too. Carrie used the Dior Medium Eyeshadow Brush for this.
Step 4: Keep blending!
The secret to a great smoky eye is in the blending. Even the most striking colours can be transformed by buffing them and making them more diffused. Take a clean brush and work the colour in both on the lid and underneath the eye.
Step 5: Daub some gold onto the lid.
Carrie wanted to take the traditional smoky eye and make it work a little better for the party season. Taking the striking gold shade from the Dior Grand Bal Palette, she patted some onto the inner 2/3 of the eye with her finger.
Step 6: Darken and line.
The great thing about a smoky eye is that you can make it as subtle or as dramatic as you’d like. Carrie wanted something a little more daring, and so went back and darkened the outer 1/3 of the eye further, and intensified the liner above and below the line.
Step 7: Contour the cheekbones.
All of the emphasis is on the eyes for this look, so Carrie subtly contoured the cheekbones with the Dior DiorBlush in 639 Sunkissed Cinnamon, a perfect shade for creating the illusion of cheekbones on Emma’s fair skintone.
Step 8: Finish with some golden gloss.
After applying mascara (Carrie used the sooty hue of Diorshow Blackout), finish up with a slick of the Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in 424 Gold Lame, a clear shade shot through with beautiful golden shimmer for a 3D glow effect.
