Do you want to keep up with the most exciting news from the beauty world? If you do, then you’ll adore my monthly Escentual Loves series; every month I’ll be handpicking the best news stories that I think that a beauty lover like yourself would be interested in knowing. Each edit will feature everything from inside scoops on the latest trends, product innovations to charitable and sustainable initiatives from the brands that we stock.
Trends We Love
The Colour Of The Year: Very Peri
First I want to talk about a trend that is taking the beauty and fashion world by storm, Pantone’s Colour Of The Year: Very Peri. The colour experts at Pantone have named Very Peri as the colour of the year in 2022; a mix of lavender, periwinkle blue and lilac, this bright colour has already been spotted on runway shows from Louis Vuitton and Valentino and has also been picked up by celebrities. With splashes of the colour Very Peri appearing in eyeshadow looks from Hailey Bieber and Dua Lipa featured in Vogue.
As well as recent fashion choices from Dua Lipa again and Kim Kardashian’s skims collection who both don the iconic shade of 2022, Very Peri.
Brands We Love
REN Skincare
A brand that is always ahead of the curve in terms of sustainability that I think deserves a shout out is REN Skincare; as 100% of their products now meet their Zero Waste Pledge. As well as, 100% of the samples are recycled, saving the potential of 900KG of plastic from landfill in 2021 alone, which is extremely impressive – well done, REN!
YSL
YSL celebrates diversity with their new brand ambassador, Indya Moore; challenging conventional beauty standards with their progressive decision to choose an actress who identifies as non-binary. Indya Moore’s focus on genuine inclusivity and diversity in the beauty world makes the perfect face for YSL.
DIOR
Dior announces their latest brand ambassador as tennis champion, Emma Raducanu, naming her the new face for their skincare line, Le Demaquillant S Au Nymphea Purifiant, and Maria Grazia Chiuri’s women’s collection. We love Dior’s focus on a young woman who is beautiful, as well as inspirational, and a role model.
People We Love
Top Couple Creators
We adore accounts that spread, positivity and love on Instagram and we think that they deserve to be celebrated, so we’re shining a light on them. For Valentine’s Day, team member, Darcey created an edit of her favourite and most inspirational couple creators on Instagram that she thinks are worth following…
Dr Marie Drago
We recently had the opportunity of meeting Dr Marie Drago, founder of microbiome friendly skincare brand, Gallinee. Born and raised in France, Marie struggled with several auto-immune diseases which is the reason she developed such a keen interest in the benefits of a healthy microbiome. As she spoke through the brand’s history and the backstory in Pharmacy during our training, we fell in love with her story and genuine enthusiasm for the microbiome; she is so inspiring! Gallinee isn’t yet available on site, but watch this space…
Campaigns We Love
Adidas Bra Campaign
A recent brand campaign that we’ve loved is from iconic sports brand, Adidas. Their inclusive sports bras campaign features a diverse array of models, showing a varying size of women. Although there’s been a lot of controversy around the campaign, in particular the tweet of 25 pairs of bare breasts, it sends a strong message to all women, showing that we are all different and ‘supported’.
Support is everything.
Whatever the sport, women deserve freedom and comfort to move however they choose. That’s why we redesigned our sports bra collection to cater for more women, more bodies and more sports.

Balmain X Barbie
Balmain collaborated with iconic toymaker Barbie, creating a ready to wear collection as well as toy Barbie dolls dressed in the line. The inclusive campaign featured all ethnicities in the multicultural lineup of Barbie doll images and models with a selection of genderless bright pink clothing designs. The striking pink designs combines both brands’ distinct style and Barbies trademark pink in an iconic collaboration of two industries: toys and fashion.
