Easy Peasy Avene

Avene - Beauty of Simplicity

Ceryn Signature

Ever felt completely overwhelmed by skincare? Me too. There’s so much choice that it’s all too easy to throw in the towel. From understanding what products are right for your skin, to deciding which brand to try next, it can all make you go a little loopy. But does it really have to be this hard? To all my fellow skincare hoarders; do you really need 6 serums in your stash or 3 different eye creams? Probably not.

I love skincare just as much as the next person. But I must admit that overloading my skin never pays off. When I get a ahead of myself with skincare, piling it all on, my skin usually goes into overdrive, and the results aren’t pretty! What I’ve learnt after years of being a dedicated skincare senorita is that less is more. It’s all too easy to be seduced by beautiful packaging and savvy marketing but at the end of the day results are what matter – who’s with me?

If, like me, you’re looking to go minimalist, then this post is for you. No more talk of 10-step routines that rarely anyone has the time for, or hoarding skincare that you’ll never use. We want effective skincare with only ingredients that matter! And who’s going to give it to us? Avene!

Why Avene Should Be On Your Radar

Avene Eau Thermale Thermal Spring Water

With simple yet hardworking products, Avene is a dream come true for anyone that’s looking to take a non-complicated approach towards beauty. Known for creating formulas that respect and preserve the balance of the skin, there’s nothing not to love about this skincare brand! But, if you’re still not sold on back-to-basics beauty, then here’s a couple of reasons why Avene is a brand your skin will love…

They only use the good stuff
Avene products are uniquely composed to be soothing and anti-irritating, so you can trust that a lot of thought goes into their ingredients line-up. That being said, their latest range, Tolerance Extreme has only 7 ingredients! Thanks to the range’s DEFI packaging (more on this below) their formulas don’t contain preservatives, so the only ingredients included are ones that have an actual skincare benefit. One of these skin-loving ingredients is Avene Thermale Spring Water, which you can read all about here.

They innovated Sterile Cosmetics
As Avene provide skincare for the most demanding skin types it’s not surprising that they’re the brains behind Sterile Cosmetics. Don’t have a clue what that means? Here’s a brief rundown. Sterile Cosmetics present a unique form of packaging that protects the formula without the need for any preservatives or parabens. Thanks to their nifty packaging and a patented flip-cap system, Avene formulas are protected from oxidation and retro-contamination, reducing the risk of reaction (amazing news for those with sensitive skin).

Your Simplified Skincare Routine

Avene - Beauty of Simplicity

Ready to start a simple skincare revolution with me? Here’s exactly what you need to keep your skin clean, fresh and radiant. And the best thing is, there’re only 6 steps!

Cleanse

Removing makeup and daily impurities from the skin is vital, so working a good cleanser into your routine is essential. A cleanser that’s effective yet very gentle is the Avene Micellar Lotion Cleanser and Makeup Remover. Infused with Avene thermale spring water, the caring formula is perfect for removing even the most stubborn makeup. The no-rinse cleanser will also allow you to avoid using hard water, minimising risk of skin irritation.

Tone

You may have thought the first thing to go in a simple skincare routine would be a toner, but think again! A toner helps to remove cleanser and prepare skin for moisturiser, so it’s still an integral part of any routine – we just needed to find one that’s quick and easy! Look no further than the Avene Thermale Spring Water Spray, a few spritzes of this and your skin will feel soothed, hydrated and cool!

Moisturise

Moisturising has many benefits. Not only will it will keep skin feeling comfortable and healthy in the short term, but it will also maintain the skin’s plump and youthful appearance overtime. In the day opt for a moisturiser with added SPF to shield your skin from harsh UV rays. The Avene Hydrance Optimale Light Protective UV SPF20 is a hydrating hero and comes in both light and rich textures, to suit all needs. For evening, think nourishment and re-charge your skin with Avene Tolerance Extreme, this range features an Emulsion for normal to combination skin and a Cream that’s perfect for dry and sensitive skin types.

Treat

At this stage in your routine it’s time to target your main skin concerns, so this will be unique to you and your needs. For dehydrated skin I recommend the Avene Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Serum (it works wonders for dryness). Those with blemish-prone skin I urge you to switch out your nighttime moisturiser for the Avene Cleanance Expert, this skin-renewing moisturiser will help reduce sebum and minimise the spread of blemish-causing bacteria – it’s also a top pick for anyone currently using topical acne medicines.

Exfoliate

My favourite step! Think of this as a fleeting step in your skincare routine, some will want to do it once a week, whereas others will reap the benefits of upping this to 2-3 times. A skin-smoothing solution for all skin types is the Avene Gentle Purifying Scrub. Enriched with exfoliating microspheres and sodium salicylate, the formula removes skin impurities and improves skin texture.

Mask

For many of us the reason we use a mask is to give our skin a re-boot, so why are we hoarding so many different ones? Whether you want to find one mask to runaway with or just add your existing stash, look no further than the new Avene Tolerance Extreme Mask. Supremely hydrating and nourishing, this mask is for everyone! A true skin-saver for all those who are having an SOS moment, this mask is perfect if you need a dose of moisture due to taking roccutane, need to be soothed after holidays or are feeling the effects of a busy week

Over to you!
