Dior Transat Summer Look
Share
Set aside the summertime neons and bronzes; Dior has introduced a fresh new take on the summer look, and it’s all about cruise elegance.
The Dior Transat Make-up Collection for summer 2014 is a lesson in fun-filled colour with a sartorial edge, offering pops of primary red, navy blue and sandy beige that recall sailor’s stripes and long stretches of sunkissed beach. Dior’s taking to the high seas, and you’re invited along for the ride…
Dior Nude Tan Transat Edition
As radiance is the name of the game for Transat, the star of the collection isn’t a bronzer, but rather a gilded skin finisher. The Dior Nude Tan Transat Edition comes in one universal shade, 001 Champagne Gold, which is a very fitting name indeed for its lighter-than-air, effervescent texture. Designed to set off a tan by catching the light and drawing attention to curves and contours, the powder boasts a record percentage of shimmer for a dazzling glow.
I’ve swatched it with quite a heavy hand on the left to give you an idea of the intensity, while on the right it’s been blended out with a clean brush. It can be applied with a fluffy powder brush for a dusting of glimmer over the face, shoulders and decollete, with a blush brush for controlled highlighting, or with an eyeshadow sponge for a bold, shimmering eye. It’s a really versatile product.
Dior Nude Shimmer Powder
Next up is some very, very good news for fans of the old Dior Ultra Shimmering Face Powders. They’ve made a permanent return in this new collection, with a brand new guise: the Dior Nude Shimmer Powder! Rose Diamond is now known as 001 Pink, whereas the ever-popular Amber Diamond is now known as 002 Amber.
As before, the palette is split into four distinct shades that vary in hue, though each has the same beautifully shimmering finish that looks so flattering on the skin. You can pick out each distinct shade for a lighter or more pigmented result, or swirl them all together for a uniform glow.
001 Pink bestows a delicate rosy glow that is so flattering for cooler tones. 002 Amber provides an expensive-looking sheen that gives warmth to the complexion. Dust the Nude Shimmer Powder across the cheekbones and dot onto the brow bone and cupid’s bow to draw light to the face.
Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette
Perhaps my favourite item in the Transat collection is the Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in 344 Atlantique. Each shade translates just as beautifully on the skin as it looks in the pan, providing richly pigmented, creamy colour that lasts. This colourway is the bolder of the two available, but it’s infinitely wearable.
From left, we have: a delicate silver blue frost, a shimmering aquamarine, an almost metallic navy with blue shimmer , a shimmering cornflower blue, and a satin chocolate brown.
The second colourway is 564 Sundeck, which takes on the sultry hues of a sunset. The raised crosshatch pattern is again the piece de resistance of the palette, offering a showstopping burnished orange shot through with fine silver shimmer.
From left, we have: a cream satin, a shimmering champagne, burnished orange with silver shimmer, metallic golden bronze, and a deep brown with subtle sparkle.
Dior Addict Lipstick
The radiant nautical theme runs right the way through to the lip offering, culminating in four brand new shades of the elegant Dior Addict Lipstick. The moisturising, balm-like texture of Addict is well suited to the summery feel of the collection, offering great pigmentation with a comfortable glossy shine.
From left, there’s: 211 Sunlight, a shimmering, sheer gold that can be worn alone or on top of other colours to make them pop; 571 Windrose, a luminous rosy pink; 611 Cruise, a juicy mandarin; and 651 Mayday, a voluptuous crimson fit for a seafarer.
Dior Manicure Transat Nail Polish
And now for some truly shows topping colour. This season, Dior Vernis is transformed into the Manicure Transat, three limited edition shades that come complete with couture nail stickers. Each of the three nail polishes takes on the cruise style codes of the collection, with 210 Yacht (rope beige), 700 Sailor (electric blue) and 750 Captain (vibrant poppy red) offering an elegant pop of vibrancy.
