Dior State of Gold Christmas Look
Share
If there’s one thing you can rely on from the Christmas makeup collections each year, it’s that Dior will be the ones to bring the gold… and lots of it!
This year’s offering is State of Gold, the debut festive collection from Dior’s new Creative and Image Director, Peter Philips. In taking note of the heritage of past Dior Christmas looks (notably that heavenly Diorific packaging) and fusing those themes with fresh new textures and colours, Peter has created a seriously covetable collection of luxurious limited editions. State of Gold feels fresh, but familiar, and every single piece is primed for gifting.
So whether you’re looking to boost your collection of collectables, or treat your friend to a dose of luxury, Dior State of Gold is ready to welcome you into a world of non-stop seasonal glamour…
Dior State of Gold Compact Powder
The star of the Christmas look is the precious State of Gold Compact Powder, a beautiful highlighting powder that dresses skin in a veil of light. Presented in a heavyweight golden compact, this ultra luxurious, finely milled powder is available in two colourways: 001 Luxurious Beige, and 002 Sumptuous Pink. Luxurious Beige bathes skin in golden tones, making it perfect for those with more warmth to their complexion, while Sumptuous Pink is the cooler offering for fairer tones.
This exquisite compact is so perfect for the Christmas season (and beyond), lighting up your cheekbones, chin, forehead and décolleté with finely milled glimmer that appears more sheen-like than glittery. It elevates your look from the everyday to the ethereal.
Rouge Diorific Mat
in 430 Radieuse, 540 Magique, 580 Fascinante
590 Troublante, 750 Fabuleuse & 770 Fantastique
Christmas is the time for show stopping lips, and for a beautifully bold dose of pigment there’s nothing better than a matte finish. Diorific Mat such a luxurious take on matte, with a creamy formula that remains comfortable and colour-true throughout its long wear.
Dior has really treated us with their colour selection this season, presenting a veritable wardrobe of intense hues to suit all skin tones. Who can resist he tempting neon coral of 540 Magique? And the nude tones of 430 Radieuse and 580 Fascinante are anything but boring with their amplified pigment. 690 Troublante is a beautiful, vampy burgundy for statement-makers, and 750 Fabuleuse is such a classic Christmassy red, it’s impossible not to feel festive. And finally, that breathtaking fuchsia flash of 770 Fantastique – your Christmas party look will be electrifying.
Diorific Vernis
in 227 Gris-or, 454 Secret, 951 Passion,
991 Mystere & 001 State of Gold
If there’s just one polish that you buy this season, make it this one. The Diorific Vernis nail varnish in 001 State of Gold is the epitome of Christmas cheer with its bauble casing and explosion of riotous gold and silver glitter within. Some glittery nail varnishes can be quite wan, but that’s not the case with State of Gold; you can always count on Dior to bring the glamour! This glitter is dense, elegant and so sparkly, with a mix of flecks and tiny mirrored circles that an expensive-looking, encrusted finish.
Apply one coat for a sprinkling of glitter, or two for a more opaque finish (as above). If you’re looking for something really special, daub some of the glitter onto the tips of your nails for a festive take on your everyday manicure.
Also presented in beautiful bauble packaging are these new Diorific Vernis limited editions, with shades that span from the pearlescent, colour-shifting gold of 227 Gris-Or through to the decadently deep and velvety maroon of 991 Mystere. There’s a really great colour mix here, and I’m especially thrilled to see the bubblegum pink hue 454 Secret – if you’re adverse to golds and red this Christmas, this happy-go-lucky shade is the one for you.
Diorshow Fusion Mono
I LOVE Dior’s collection of Fusion Mono eye colours. Their texture is quite difficult to describe; each one is bouncy like a mousse, but with the finish and texture of a powder. Pair this with the comfort of a cream (and all of the sparkle you can handle) and you’ve got a very intriguing product indeed.
Dior Fusion Mono in 631 Blazing will have metallic magpies feeling rapturous – I think it’s one of the nicest interpretations of gold I’ve seen. The shimmer is micro-fine and incredibly elegant, and the shade is more champagne sparkle than gilded metal. Don’t just stick to the lids with this one; pat the wondrous hue everywhere you’d like to have a bit of extra sparkle, from cheekbones to décolleté. If you’re a little sparkle-shy, take a small angled eyeliner brush and create a glam cat-eye flick.
